For those of you who live in the vicinity of DesMoines, could you clue me in for the best location - close to hospital, airport, safety, affordable housing, etc? Thanks - 'never been but am planning a trip in a few weeks to explore. What should I definitely look for! Thanks - Is it hot there now?

i was in Des Moines a couple years ago and it is almost a high fashion city. beautiful malls. the center of banking for wells fargo and nice colleges. we were there to check out a college. i really liked it.

Yes it is hot in Iowa in July, August and can be in September.

Big quilt show coming up at the end of September. Some areas are better than others in the city, which makes it like any other place in the USA. Good people (quilters) and some not so good. Good Quilt shops there. Love West Des Moines and Clive area.

Love driving in for the day, and leaving it before the highways get so crowded from workers returning home.
