Please, does anyone know how to get blue dye from jeans off of a beige leather car seat?! I'd rather not say who was responsible for this situation! The jeans had been washed several times, but still rubbed off.

Try Windex or I have read hair spray mentioned here often. You might also try a Mr. Clean erasure. Not to scrub but just get wet & gently wipe over the spot.

I am wondering if a damp "color catcher sheet" will do the job. As far as using cleaners on leather you have to treat it afterwards with a leather conditioner or the leather will dry out & crack.

I googled jeans dye/leather seats, but there are so many suggestions it's hard to say which one will work best. I got everything from Dawn dish detergent to using Turtle wax.

The dye used in jeans never fully dries, hence it rubs off on just about anything.

I had the same problem with a navy dress on white leather seats. I went to the garage and asked their cleaners if they could help. They gave me a small bottle of their seat cleaning solution after they cleaned it for me. I kept the bottle for years to clean leather seats in car. You have to be very careful what you put on the leather.
hope you get as quick a fix as I did. No idea of a name.

Yuck! I bought a car this year with light gray leather seats and I wear jeans all the time. I've been wondering how much trouble these are going to give me.

Do not use Windex (or any window cleaner) on the leather. It's spots/discolors the leather. We have leather (dark burgundy) sofa/love seat. DH was 'helping' me one day and decided to clean windows. Dribbled the window cleaner over the leather. What more needs to be said.

I would let the manufacturer of the jeans know what's going on. I have a couple of friends who wear jeans constantly and have light leather seats. Have never heard of them having problems with their jeans discoloring their leather seats. Will keep that in mind though and have to ask.

A couple summers ago someone had dropped a magic pen on my back seats which are fabric. Someone mentioned using alcohol on it and it worked. The ink had been on the fabric for a couple weeks before I noticed it as I never sit in the back and it came out. Didn't come out of the seatbelt though, just the fabric on the seats.

Is there a Tandy's close by. My husband use to do leather work and used something to clean the leather but I don't remember what t was but do know he bought it at Tandy's. Since you are in the Dallas area check the saddle makers or boot makers.

Hair spray should remove it.

Rubbing Alcohol.

If you service your car at a particular dealers site, you could try there. The service folks have the proper cleaning materials for leather. I personally would not use Windex.

Our boat canvas/leather place told us to use shave cream.

Thanks for all the helpful suggestions. I knew I could count on this group! After some thought I've decided that probably the suggestions to let the pros do it, or at least get their advice is probably the one I'll go with. At least it gets me off the hook, and I'm extremely leery of making the situation worse. At my age, perhaps the message is I shouldn't be wearing jeans out in public anyway. Sigh.

Maybe all need to make beautiful quilted slip covers for our cars.

I'd avoid Mr. Clean erasure because it removed the color from my car seat. Cost to replace leather $200.

I had the same thing happen to me--beige leather seats and the dye from blue jeans was rubbing off on them. I just used a leather cleaner on the seats and had no problem getting the blue off.

The leather cleaner sample that came with my car worked on getting the blue from jeans off of the seat. I told my son when he takes it in for the 1st oil change to purchase me a bottle from the dealer.

Wow, how strange! My car has 2-tone leather seats (dark & light grey) and I wear jeans all the time - never had a problem. My car is about 1-1/2 years old now. I tend to wear lighter colored jeans though, not the really dark indigo. Interesting!!

You're never too old to wear jeans in public, though, is my opinion! Of course, I'm 40 and dye my hair black and bright purple and wear Chuck Taylor sneakers, so maybe I shouldn't be listened to for fashion advice. ;-)

recently had an ink pen break in my car, before I knew it I had ink EVERYWHERE, door panels, seats, hands, clothes, every where I looked I had ink. Alcohol wouldn't touch it neither would vodka. lol I was miles from home. I went to NAPA, an auto parts store, and they sold me a bottle of cleaner that works on leather and fabric items. Can't remember the name but it worked like magic, cleaned the car, me, my clothes, leather coat and everything it touched. Had a slight lemony odor for a while but it worked. Try an auto parts store, they can help.

Try ( after reading about it) Awesome cleaner available at the Dollar Store. My son bought a nice van but the seats were all discolored. When he finished cleaning it with Awesome, the leather upholstery looked like new. Do test in an inconspicuous spot first! Also note Hair spray used to take off ball point pen ink, etc., but the formula has been changed and it no longer works like it used to.

Don't use anything on leather that you would not use to wash your face. Leather is skin and just as touchy to cleaning products. My suggestion, if you can't get a can of saddle soap or another kind of leather cleaner, is to use ivory soap and water (use a damp wash cloth and rinse with a clean cloth, wipe dry).

Hand sanitizer works wonders to get ink off of hands and a lot of other things, but I'm not sure I'd use it on leather. It might dry it out.

Thanks for all the updates! Leather cleaner seems like a safe option. The vehicle has less than 3000 miles on it, and it was just sickening to see what happened, especially since I carefully used a protective cover in the back seats to protect them from kids and pets. Didn't realize I needed one of those myself, but apparently...
