Okay... so my husband looks at my hobby as a time waster, not worth it, expensive, etc.....

UNTIL... he started to recover his leather Rocarro sports car seats. THEN all of a sudden, he understood such things as the usefulness of Rotary cutters of different sizes, Mats....

Then he found that my mini iron stand and work area was great for holding his soldering iron.....

He also discovered that both my sewing machines ... one of which is a restored 1923 Singer.... might have cost money to fix up, but boy can they ever sew canvas and leather!

Now he uses my table to fix electronics, take apart computers, uses my big glue gun, my Dremal, my machines, rulers...

But he always, always asks first, and cleans up after. <smile> So I don't mind...

Has anyone else found their significant others 'discovering' the usefulness of your quilting areas? If so, how? I'd sure like to keep on pointing out to my DH, just how useful, practical and worthy it is for the wifey to have such toys....

Yeah, you guessed it... I want that Babylock Ellisimo!~ <wink>

My husband is an engineer so he loves precision. He just loves my rulers.

My husband never complains. But I don't think he has any idea how many toys I have. Sometimes he goes fabric shopping with me and he'll suggest that I buy this or that gadget. Usually my response is, "I already have one of those." LOL

The other day he came into my sewing room and was watching me sew on my Featherweight "Just because it's so cute."

LOL I can picture him in your room, suggesting that maybe you need more tools :D:D:D

Wouldn't I just FALL OVER now!

Hey, most of the guys I know have this 'thing' about tools...It needs to be bigger, better, more of 'em. So if he's applying that mindset to your quilting...Wowsers...you just might be majorly in luck there!

My husband is a retired school administrator, works now with our son in lawn & landscaping & sub teaching. He started education as a building trades teacher and almost anything that has been done in our homes including building one from the plans on up he has done. I have always done many things on the decorating side so he has always appreciated what I need, to do what I want to do. Our garage is wall to wall tools and he knows you need the right tools to do things right, and he's all about doing it the right way. I am very fortunate!

He's not applying that methodology yet. My DH almost never buys anything new, usually is about one or two models behind the times on purpose... it's just the way he is. He doesn't mind having to take a little extra time to do a job, yet he easily finds ways to accomplish things using the tools that he has. Mind you... that's an excellent attitude to have. Growing up in Maine, my family always "Made do, or do without".

But I am desirious of finding out what quilting tools can be used to do other things. And yes, he knows that there are 'paper' sissors and 'fabric' sissors, kitchen shears and work shears. His mom taught him that.... lol.

I am blessed.
