Very interesting info ~ but I believe December has 5 Saturdays, 5 Sundays and 5 Mondays this year ~ not 5 Fridays.

You are right and the only reason it has 5 Sat. is because the 1st is a Sat.

sewgarden 08-12-2012 01:45 PM

Some great info there. Thank you Ditter.

susansomethings 08-12-2012 01:54 PM

This statement "When a person dies, hearing is the last sense to go. The first sense
lost is sight" let me add hearing is heightened when death is soon to come.

jeank 08-12-2012 03:58 PM

The years of 2012, 2040, 2068 an 2096 use the same calendar, so the December in each year is the same, hardly 823 years between that happening.

mrs. fitz 08-14-2012 08:25 AM

Thanks Ditter, these were some fun facts. I'd love to hear from anyone on the Board from Iceland to confirm that tipping is an insult, that one is hard to believe.

Ditter, you're something! Don't know if I ever thanked you for something I "borrowed." I deliver meals on wheels in our community, and one elderly lady likes to greet me with a trivia question and "stump" me -- every time I come. I surprised her last summer with a printed out sheet of your puns. She thanked me over & over the next time I came . Such a simple gesture of sharing your humor brought her so much joy!

I've never heard of the Iceland tipping thing, but I do know that it is an insult to tip in Japan (My aunt is from Japan) I found a worldwide tipping guide http://www.magellans.com/store/article/435 for those of you planning to travel to Iceland or where ever in the near future :)
