I am making a NEW to us recipe for cream of mushroom soup with barley. I am going to also serve a side green salad and baked tilapia fish.

Do you think cherry pie would go good for dessert later?

All this cooking and I can only eat the soup with NO barley and the fish...My family is so spoiled!

mommamac 02-22-2011 12:46 PM

Cherry pie though not my favorite would be quite appropriate since yesterday was President's day. Did George really chop down that tree? Were his teeth really made of wood? You can serve some trivia with your meal. lol

Tropical 02-22-2011 12:54 PM

I think cherry pie goes with any meal.

blossom808 02-22-2011 12:55 PM

Eye of round steaks cooked all day in the crockpot in brown gravy. Just have to add peas and make some mashed.

amazon 02-22-2011 03:01 PM

We are having grilled ground round steak, divine carrots(carrots, chicken broth, butter, sea salt) baked potato and for dessert.. pear salad. As soon as it hits 50º outside , I break out the grill...yumm.

Ramona Byrd 02-22-2011 03:17 PM

Today is Dibs and Dabs night..that means clean out the fridge and freezer, put everything edible (no science experiments or greenish stuff that should be brown) in a crock pot with every kind of spice I can get the lid off and dump some home made frozen biscuits on top and let it go!! On a cold, windy day like we've been having that sounds very good, and no one will complain about the cook.
No one else is here...hehehe...
And I have some frozen sweet potatoes that are partially cooked, a farmer gave me some 10 pound ones that could not be sold. I baked them whole and froze them. Maybe a sweet tater pudding?

emerald46 02-22-2011 06:50 PM

I am the only person in my family who likes cherry pie. Wish I could come to dinner. The rest sounds wonderful too!

jaciqltznok 02-22-2011 06:57 PM

dinner tonight was amazing..only NO cherry pie...I forgot I had fresh strawberries to use up so strawberry short cake it was. I only get strawberries....

The mushroom soup was spot on. I did not change a thing and I would not change a thing. It was super good!

Chasing Hawk 02-22-2011 07:18 PM

We had Rib Eyes grilled just till they stopped mooing. Grilled squash and grilled red onions and baked potatoes. And desert is a extremely low fat carrot cake with a fat free cream cheese icing.

luvTooQuilt 02-23-2011 09:07 PM

MMMMM I love cherry pie!!!! We use the fruit from our orchard for pies, jams & Jellies.. Im very fortunate that MIL planted cherry trees (among a few other fruits) years and years ago. We have apples, pears, peaches, blackberries, gooseberries (yuck), and 4 different grape vines.. and an occasional wild strawberry or two..

nellebelles 02-24-2011 12:04 AM

Oh, I love cherry pie! DH doesn't care much for cherries in any form, so we don't have it very often. Sometimes, when I'm visiting with my mom, I'll get to have a slice. She's a great pie baker. Cherry pie was my favorite as a child--and it brings back lots of good memories when I get some!

p38flygirl 02-26-2011 04:02 PM

cherry pie is always good..
