Very interesting topic. I have had hostas lining my driveway for years. This year the leaves are turning brown and crunchy. It almost looks like they need water, but I really don't think so. Maybe I will try spraying them with detergent.

cindyb usually when hosta leaves get brown they are getting too much sun. If you spray them with detergent, male sure it's watered down. Watering them well may help.

I have found a spray bottle of Lysol kitchen disinfectant works GREAT to kill unwanted ants that seem to get in during the hot dry spells here - looking for water I presume. Just spritz them and they're toast!
