Do you have an ipad?

My dear friend in Arizona recently bought an ipad and she said she loves it. We talk on the phone 3 to 4 times a week. We like the idea of being able to see each other when we chat. So I am considering buying an ipad this week.

Do you have one and if so what do you love about it?

I didn't think I would enjoy mine as much as my husband does and I guess I don't. BUT, I do like it very much. I can sit on the couch and fiddle with email or play a game or read a book. Very nice.

My father in law has one and likes facetime to talk to this daughter who lives 7 hrs away.

I love mine, especially now since our computer has had a bug for the last 2 weeks. I can stay in touch and facetime is great when talking with family in Kansas. I can do just about anything that I could do on the computer except print. I have fallen in love with the Angry Birds games and love reading books my iPad.

I don't have an IPad but do have a Fire Kindle that I wouldn't be without.

I have one and I really like it. While I can do facetime on my iPhone, it's much better on the larger screen. I also keep all of my pdf files on it which include my patterns, tutorials and instructions. It's great for retreats. If you want to share something, you can just email it.

Next weekend in Missouri is tax free for computers, school supplies and school clothes. I wonder if the Ipad is included. You might check in your state to see if they are having a tax free weekend. You would save about $40 in taxes.

I just love mine...I didn't think I would ever like anything better than my computer, but I must admit I do. I haven't touched my computer for weeks. Love love love it!

I love my iPad. I have one of the original ones, so can't do FaceTime. One of the things that frustrated me when I first got it was I couldn't figure out how to post pictures to things like QB with it. But, I got a photobucket account and got the free photobucket app. Now it's easy! Someone said they couldn't print, but we have wifi here at the house and the printer is on the network and I can print fine.

I love my IPad! My DIL is going to set it up for me for FaceTime. I use it for quiltingboard( can't post pictures yet), Google, YouTube and lots of neat games. I've only been using it for about 6 months and have only scratched the surface of what it can do.

I did buy the newest version of the Ipad and I love it too!! In fact, I just had face time with my dear friend in Arizona. We do that about once a week in addition to talking on the phone. It's like having a mini computer at my fingertips.

I am interested in getting one.

I love mine! My son and daughter in law moved to Germany the first of the summer and we facetime. I can see their home and my furry grandchildren and feels like they are just down the street. Lots of great apps for quilting, news, and games to keep my mind sharp (LOL).

I've thought about it but my one draw back is that normally when I use my pc its to design or I'm paying bills online. I have a netbook and hate looking at the small screen so I'm not sure I'd like it. I bought a large 17in laptop when I started designing for embroidery. that being said, people here have them at work, our new director made sure all of the managers have one. It is good that after hours or on weekends if we have to page someone when the systems go down; all of the mangagers can check in and see what is going on. I love my Color Nook and love reading and doing alot of things with it. I have the iPhone 4S and still can't say that I love it and I don't use Facetime but it is cool and if my daughter got an iPhone I'd probably use it then to at least see the kids when she calls. I do see them most everyday but she'll call and tell me about something they are doing then or my 18mo will go around the house calling out for her GiGi and she'll call so that I can talk to them. Who knows, right now I can't see buying one but in the future, maybe. I just don't want to pay another bill for the on the go access to the web.

I've had my iPad for about 10 months and love it. Early in the summer I was having problems with tennis elbow and it was great to read books when I couldn't hold a needle and sew or rotary cut my fabric. It is also great to sit in the living room with the rest of family and check e-mails or QB when watching TV and not feel like I am isolated because the computer is in another room. I also like being able to listen to music, mine and IHeart Radio. Husband laughs at me when I try to do "touch" screen on the computer because that is what you do with iPad :) Granddaughter (age 3) also loves to play games and use the photo booth option to take funny pictures of herself and grandpa. Would definitely get another if something happened to this one. When I got mine I got a keyboard case that I like to use (works with bluetooth) so I don't have to touch the screen to type. Good luck on your search and decision.

An iPad will connect via any existing wifi. If you have wifi in your house, it will connect to that without any additional charge. It can also connect to free public wifi hotspots, such as ones you can find at coffee shops and bookstores. You only incur additional charges if you get the iPad with 3G or 4G - it connects via the cell phone network, so you have to pay for THAT.

My dh is retired Air Force and I wish they had "invented" the ipad while we were stationed in Japan and then we lived in Alaska for 14. How wonderful it would have been to be able to "see" our family and friends that way.

One of the apps is great for pranking my teenage son - it's the Directv app. My husband can change the channel with this app and not touch the remote. The Teen thinks there is something wrong with the TV. It cracks us up!

This app is great for our marriage, too - hubby can channel surf to his heart's delight and let me watch tv in peace. Drove me crazy when he channel-surfed with the remote. He'd always put the tv on the channel menu and then leave the room.

Love my iPad2 but need to take the free class at the apple store :)))

Can't help you, don't have one.

Maggiemay 09-04-2012 05:21 PM

I got one recently & I love it. I need to learn some more of the neat stuff I could be doing with it though! My favorite app so far is called Overdrive. You can use it to check ebooks out of your library. You need a library card, which I have. I've been doing all kinds of reading on my iPad for free! I also like how you can take a screenshot of something (quilt, recipe, etc) & save it. I am on it right now & love the portability. I never had a laptop because after the kids got theirs I had the desktop to myself. When I got an iPhone I became more comfortable with using apple products. I am with adnil458, I need to get back to the apple store & take a class.
