I bought a steam mop about a week ago and used it today for the first time. It was sure easier then mopping the other way but I am not sure it gets floors any cleaner.
After I mopped my kitchen and dining room, I noticed streaks on the floor. The pad on the steam cleaner was just dirty in places. I took the pad off and washed it in the sink, wrung it out and replaced it damp on the steam mop. Then I went over the floors again and was amazed at how much more dirt I picked up. My floors really didn't look that dirty!
Then I decided to give it a real test. I washed the pad again, replaced it and took it to our shower. Of coarse it was a little hard to manuver it to clean in the shower, but I was truly amazed at the results! My glass shower doors got clean enough I could actually see through them. The floor of the shower was spotless. I tried to clean the walls, but it was to hard to manuver it to do a thorough job.
I am going to buy one of the hand held kind. I can see so many places I will use it. So overall I am impressed. I was able to do the floors and the shower without killing my back like I usually do!
If you have one, what do you think?

Love mine. The only thing I don't like about it is that it takes more work to do grout on the floor, but it sure does dry a lot faster.

Ditter, I'm so glad you brought up this subject. I asked for one for Christmas last year - didn't get it though. I was a bit skeptical but you are making me a believer. I hate cleaning my shower doors and the nooks and crannies around the sinks and toilets. Maybe I should get it after all. I've seen the infomercials on both the floor model and the hand held one. Hmmm, maybe it will go back on my Christmas list. Thanks for your opinion. Will be interesting to see what others think as well.

Ditter, what brand do you have? I just may need one of these. Our shower glass has so much build up from the hard water, it would be worth it if it helped with that. Hmmmmm this might really be something that I would use. Going to watch for more posts.

I have one but I don't think I could clean the shower with it. It does a great job on my old wood floors - it is hard to believe that it sterilizes the surface. I like it. Mine is a Hahn brand

I have both the handheld and mop style. They do a great job on the bathroom, laminate floors and kitchen floor. Really shines up around the faucets.

I have the Shark...I got it when it was on sale at Sears..My DDil bought one and she loves it. She gave me the idea of cleaning the shower with it. It gets all the soap buildup off the shower doors, but I don't think it is likely to remove hard water deposits...I could be wrong! I am going to start looking for the hand held one on sale!

Not knocking the steam cleaner .... in fact I've been wondering about getting one. But you won't even have to use it in your shower if you regularly use Arm & Hammer "Clean Shower". I haven't had to clean the shower or door since I started using it. It even keeps the chrome bright and shiny!

funny you ask this. I just sort of inherited one. I've used it once. Plan on using it again tomorrow. Then I will speak my mind ;-)

Does that really work? I used the Scrubbing Bubbles shower cleaner thing and it didn't work at all.
