I watch two fantastic movies today. I love movies that do not have cussing, or blood and guts. :x These were two of the most up lifting, love story that I have seen in a long time. :D It is The Perfcet Stranger and Another Perfect Stranger. If you are tried of the trash on tv please get these movies you will love them. :D :D

MadQuilter 09-18-2010 03:31 PM

Actually one of my favorite movies is Kill Bill. Second best are the bad B movies on the SciFi channel and Chill. It looks like you and I won't be going to the movies together. However, I'm glad you found something you like.

DebsShelties 09-18-2010 03:42 PM

Just got done watching The Ugly Truth - very funny movie

Ditter43 09-18-2010 03:43 PM

I liked the Kill Bill movies too...Kind of tounge in cheek funny. I am a big SciFi fan, but more in books then movies. Most of the time my imagination is much better then what they come up with for the movie!
I will look into the Perfect Stranger movies too. I like a lot of different kinds. Just no totally stupid movies like police academy!
The Ugly Truth was funny!

Has anyone seen Crazy Heart yet?

The theme song "The Weary Kind" will bring a tear to your eye.

My favorites are Baby Boom (Diane Keaton) and Ever After (Drew Barrymore). I like happily ever after movies.

mollymct 09-18-2010 04:20 PM

I love all kinds of movies! Haven't seen Kill Bill--though it's in my netflix queue (sp?). Haven't heard of Perfect Stranger movies!

I'm catching up on the last season of Lost. I didn't want to watch it when it came out, and now I'm glad I missed it because I wouldn't have enjoyed waiting week-to-week to see what happens!

sewmuchmore 09-18-2010 04:35 PM

I am not limited to just love stories. I love, Science faction Star track, Lost In Space. I like Action movies. I just hate it when they cuss through out the hold movie. I turn it off. I love thrillers like
1. Kiss The Girls
2. Silence Of The Lamb

Am a Turner Classic Movies fan. Love the old black and white (Bette Davis,
Joan Crawford, Humphrey Bogart) and classics: The Heiress, A Place in the
Sun, Of Mice and Men, The Postman Always Rings Twice, Mildred Pierce, etc.
Get the idea ... and guess you know my age bracket.

Oh, you should see my video collection. From Oklahoma, South Pacific, Creature from the Black Lagoon, The Bat ballet, onwards
to the Challenger horror. We taped it as it happened, it showed Christa's parents in the stands as they watched the smoke trail suddenly spread out in a giant Y..then men in suits came for them and you could see the knowledge of what had happened on their faces. This was never shown again.

Bed knobs and Broom Sticks..I still love Angela Lansbury's movies. Movies that don't have violence or vulgar language.
It seems that every movie director thinks the public won't buy into a movie unless it has 3 gallons of blood and words that are forbidden in most homes in America.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang...do you see a pattern here? I love children's movies like Mary Poppins..

My kids say it's because I must be in my second childhood. Okay, I'm having fun with movies and my play time in my sewing room.

I have a large movie collection here too. Been getting TV shows on DVD lately so I can listen to them while sewing. Reciently got all of The Golden Girls, a show I really enjoyed. It's nice to have them when there is nothing on television, even though the new seasons are starting up this week, there are a few days where there is nothing to catch my interest to watch, so those will be dedicated sewing days!

I love musicals, too, Ramona Byrd! Ooooklahoma! Now I'm going to be singing that all day! :) And I love all my childhood favorites...

Deb--I just mailed my Gilmore Girls dvd's to SIL, who was placed on bedrest in her fourth month of pregnancy. They were my favorite "background" to sewing and cleaning, because I know them so well I can "watch" in my head and still concentrate on what I'm doing! I hope I get them back!

My Mom and I were talking one day over coffee. She was telling me about a movie she had seen, all blood and guts type of thing. She didn't care for the movie I don't recall which one it was.
Anyway, she says, "I don't care for blood, guts, attacking women type of movies, things blowing up etc. By the way......Do you have "Full Metal Jacket" at home?" I almost spit my coffee at her.

quiltluvr 09-19-2010 08:29 AM

Latest one I watched was Julia/Julie. Thought I would like it more. Used to live for movies when I was younger, now just doesn't seem to be anything worthwhile to go see or rent. Lots of junk. Now I'm hooked on home or cooking shows on cable. Where does the day go?

Love musicals, my favs are Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, Clamity Jane, King and I with Yul Brenner.

Not crazy about blood guts and gore in movies. Starship troopers is the worst in my collection.
Took forever to get thru it has I had to pause it a lot to get up and walk out of the room for a bit.
I do have a large variety overall, approx 500 - 750 total DVD, Blu Ray, and VHS.
Waiting on Letters from Juliet - it should arrive this coming week in the mail - was cheaper to buy thru the net and had free shipping.
