All the potholders I have I made. I used two layers of Quilter's Dream cotton batting and they're perfect, not too stiff and not too thin.

I make my potholders using old bluejeans.

I havn't but I should. I have so much scrap fabrics around and all my potholders are getting "gross"

Do you layer it batting-side together or how?

Yes, I make fancy ones with curved corners or scallop edging...great practice before tackling larger projects! I give most of them away, but I like being able to make them to match my kitchen decor.

I use the Insulbright batting, and honestly, haven't paid much attention to how I am putting the sandwich together! I think I usually put the silver sides facing outwards.
