brush your teeth????
I have no recollection of being told to spit out the toothpaste....just have always done it.
And I taught my son & daughter to do it the same way.....but I had no idea why you spit it out....just did it!!!
A few months ago I was reading something somewhere and it said that toothpaste was a very bad thing to swallow. And that statement has been 'festering' in my mind ever since!! Did my mother 'know' why she taught me to spit it out...or was she just blindly following her mother's instructions as I did?
The biggest thoughts I have about this are --why have i just done it that way....and how many other things do I do without 'knowing' why???

I kinda think I am just a little 'teched'!!

I don't know-but I don't like the taste-and it's sort of "pastey" even when you're finished brushing. . .

I don't know that my mom taught us to "spit" - I do know she always bought the cheapest brand possible and there was no way I was swolling it...I do remember in 3rd grade a dentist coming to school - we got toothpast; tooth brush and some pink pellet you ate and it stained your teeth to show you how you were not brushing properly...and a song

up down side to side
the choo choo train will glide
spit, swish, gargle and spit again
now SMILE!

I tought that same thing to my kids - more than the spitting part - I always have wondered why a song that didn't really rhyme and made no sense has stuck with me!!

ok, so what happens if you used to eat it. My older brother and I used to make little bit sized piles of it behind the faucet then when it was dried out the next day we would eat it like candy. Gross I know but we did. I was maybe 3 or 4 at the time.
