Do you Spring Clean ?

How many of you do this annual rite ?

Do you do the whole house or just parts of it ?

For the first time in too many years I am doing it and in the process getting ready to remove the "living room " from my house and make it a "quilting" room :) I basically live alone ( One son away at college only comes home for holidays and summer, other married) so after talking to the boys they agreed it made more sense to use the larger room for my quilting stuff and use the smaller 3rd bedroom as a "living room" since I hardly have any visitors.

I cannot believe how many pairs of scissors I have found- how many patterns I forgot I had purchased ... it is like a shopping spree without leaving home :) And no there will be no "before" pics  absolutely not LOL

Just the thought of it is daunting.

I have a hard time just keeping up with the "ordinary cleaning."

There is such a thing as too much of a good thing.

I was thinking I would like to paint our bedroom. It seems like most of the "remodel/refresh/redecorate" shows start by clearing everything out of a space and then moving only the "really want/useful" items back in. Where would I put the stuff in the meantime?

What I have the hardest time with is the stuff that is "sort of still useful" - past it's prime, but not quite totally worn out! Not quite icky enough for me to easily put in the trash, but not quite good enough for anyone else to really want it, either.

I remember my mom doing the anual cleaning and I absolutely hated that time of the year! The chaos, no place to sit down....so no I don't do spring cleaning. Like bearisgray said, I have a hard time just keeping up with the ordinary cleaning! I'm in the process of decluttering the house, getting rid of everything I think I don't need anymore and my kids don't want it anyway. Unfortunately it's not like a shopping spree, I wish it was!

I used to and since I have improved health, plan on getting stuck in and revitalising and refreshing our home. I am no minimalist, but need to do some serious sorting and tossing. Amazing how much gets accumulated "on the quiet". I am a real collector....but have been watching Hoarders of late...and it truly scares the dickens out of me. So watch out spiders and dust dinosaurs...I'm on the move!

I think it's great you are organising your home to suit your needs....so many people don't, and it really is a waste of resources. Many rooms are left "just for show", which is really quite silly when you think about it.

I do one room per week, it makes the chore easier.

I would like to do that also but, my Husband loves his living room. Good for you to be able to do what you want.
I use to spring clean almost every week when I stayed home. Now not so much.
