Does Anyone do the Fabric Painting on the Stenciled/Stamped Cloth?
 

When I was much (much) younger, this was all the rage. I invested in most of the paints and some stamped pieces. Then it seem to fall out of favor. Does anyone still do this?

My problem was using the tubes of paint that were suppose to have tips so the process would be like coloring. Any improvement in that area?

I think I would like to try this again as it seem that I'm going into my second childhood and LOVE coloring with my grandchildren. For some reason, my hands (which have been shaky at lot) don't seem to shake too much when I'm just coloring!! LOL

Also, if anyone has any of the supplies they would like to "re-gift (I would buy), please PM me.

Don't know why I'm sitting here thinking of more projects to do when I'm so far behind on Christmas gifts but I guess I work better under pressure!!

My mom had these and she and I did lots of projects with them. As an all grown up girl, I find the present day fabric paints so much easier to use but that is me! I like being able to use brushes. Mom used to always bug me to keep the tips clean after a painting session, so that might be why you are having issues?

I took a look at the web sites above. I do remember those from many years ago, BUT they used to have parties (like tupperware, princess house etc.) and had to be ordered. I think it was called Artex ?? Anyone know ? I remember the tips always not working after they were put away for a while. I use fabric paints to stencil things on tee shirts. Until at least I can figure out how to use my new Topaz 20 embroidery machine. LOL

I was on Hobby Lobby's site and they have sets of the paints by Aunt Martha. The description reads that the "ball point tip" makes it "easy" to paint on all fabrics, etc. I remember having to really squeeze the tube back then and I was a young thing!! LOL

I like using paint pens but not sure the tips are fine point enough! Hmmmm. Just like trying to find marking pens for our quilts, etc. I do have an embroidery machine but was thinking I could do the painting on days when I have to have "couch/heating pad" days!!

Had to laugh about having to squeeze the tubes, they used to call that "burping the tube". OMG, how do I even remember that??? I had bought the 4 piece placemat set that had a red rose on it. Painted them, but never used them.I also saw some online .

Wow...bit of a blast from the past....Here in Australia they were marketed as "Hobbytex" and they had parties...as slk350 mentioned. My Nan was very "into" it and had a special tin with the hoop as part of the lid. I liked it as a youngster, but I don't like the "stiffness" factor....which I also find with machine embroidered designs....so I stick to hand embroidery. Must admit though....it was colourful and fun....thanks for the trip down memory lane:)
