Sometimes I wonder about my cats. They are mostly indoor cats, but are allowed out for short periods. Both cats will sit at back door, waiting to come in. Let them in, they run to litter box, go potty, then run to door to go out again. There is plenty of open space outside. (100 acres) What have I done to these animals??

One of our cats (who is in kitty heaven now) did the same thing! He would be frantic at the door to come in, use the box, and then ask to go outside! We couldn't figure it out since he had the entire outdoors to use as a potty!!

Have you ever tried to dig in that hard old dirt? I'd come back inside too! LOL

Mine do the same thing. They can be out for hours but come in and use their potty. I guess we have them well trained.

Hey, I understand it..... Just like humans, they prefer indoor plumbing!

Wow! I know a lot of city folks that would love to be your neighbours. We live in the country but our cats are 100% indoor because of the local wildlife. Just do not want to lose one of them to a racoon, fox or coyote. Chester (my avatar) is a bit of Houdini, but he usually just heads for the catnip patch. More than once, I have found him on his back, totally zoned!!

Horse will do the same thing! Let them out in the pasture, clean their stall with fresh shavings, bring them in at night and they immediately pee!!
