Does anyone have Angel fish or any other kinds?
 

I have had a fish tank, (tanks) forever. I love angel fish and have had some for as long as 14 years. Well I was down to three in my 75 gallon tank and there was free angel fish on graigs list ( I said to good to be true, there not cheap) so I emailed the guy. Well he has raised these from babies and he gave my 10 and said if they did good I could have more in a few weeks. I was blown away,here is what I got, and I just love them there colors are awesome.

We haven't had fish in over 30 years. My husband had them as a child so we had several tanks for years, then I had a child and suddenly realized that I was the one taking care of them. So 5 tanks went down to one in about 2 years and the last one was a 30 gallon tank and we had an Oscar - those bad boys eat anything and everything. It drove me crazy because I would feed them and that fish would leap out of the tank at me. Once it landed on the floor, I walked off my DH rushed to his rescue, said I was killing Oscar and my response was, "I hope so!"
I loved the Angel fish, they were always so graceful and pretty. But other fish would gang up on them.
My DH didn't have time to take care of the tank, I was pregnant with my second daughter and we decided no new fish. When my neighbors said they would love to have the fish and all the tanks we were done.
Watching fish can be so relaxing - until they start eating one another and then not so much.

Thank you, I love watching them and yes they are so relaxing to watch, I have had fish since I was 18 and I had a 120 Gallon tank but when we moved I just didn't have the space for it. I would love to have it back. I hope to add a few more angels and my tank will be stunning.

Beautiful tank & fish. My DD had fish her whole time growing up & they were so relaxing & fun to watch. She had fresh water & later went to salt water. Oh my, when a salt water fish died you felt like you just threw out a wad of money! You are very blessed to have found a source for so many free angel fish.

Thank you, I also had a salt water but runs into to much money and they have to be right on point. I can't tell you how happy I was to get these fish, he could have easy sold them for 20.00 each, there so beautiful, but he was very picky with them and wanted them to go with someone who knew something about them as well. He said he had so many kids email him and ask if they could put them in a fish bowl??? My angels have laid eggs before but none ever hatched.

We used to have fresh water fish, many years ago. It started with a small (18 gallon?) tank in 1969, when we were living in Orange County. But then my DH got orders to Hawaii (he was in the Marine Corps) so we moved to Kaneohe, and the tank (but not the fish!) moved with us. The movers actually packed my bowling bowl INSIDE the fish tank, but somehow it didn't break. Once in Hawaii, the fish tank craze hit us really hard, and before we knew it there were about 30 fish tanks set up in our home in base housing, many of them 90 gallons or more. We even built a few tanks ourselves, with plywood and plexiglass. We spent weekends going around to fish stores all over the island, and also buying tanks and fish from people who were selling theirs. The work of keeping all those tanks clean was overwhelming, and thankfully we sold most of them before we had to return to California. After that we had a few tanks, but our willingness to spend the time to care for them just wasn't there, so we sold everything. Our older son had salt water aquariums for a while, but they are gone too.

When we had the multiple tanks set up we had lots of cichlid babies - mostly Jack Daniels, convicts, oscars, and Kribensis. It was hard to find homes for the young ones. Having a piece of slate, almost vertical, seemed to be their favorite place to lay eggs, and they needed places for the young to hide. Watching them was always interesting, and I miss that. Having fish is almost as addictive as quilting, but at least you can leave the quilting supplies alone with no worries while you go on vacation, and you don't come home to find that your favorite has somehow jumped out of the tank.

I have never had angel fish, but have had various sized tanks most of my life with fancy goldfish. When I have a yard (which I do not at the moment) I usually have an outside pond...nothing too huge (100 to 200 gallons at most). I currently have a 70 gallon tank, with 5 large fancy goldfish.

I just wanted to say that I have that EXACT tree stump decoration! I cut it in half, top to bottom, and use the two pieces to cover and hide the big pipes that serve to pull water into and out of the power filter. It is actually part of a series...I have another matching smaller stump, and two logs.

Is that a mirror on the back of the tank?

Lovely. I had tropicals for about 15 years. They are so much fun to watch and it really is relaxing. I moved someplace where I really didn't have a good place for them so no more fish. :( I did have angels but the ones that gave me the most fun were the black mollies. I came home from work one day and was trying to fish out what I thought was a stray piece of charcoal when it swam away!! I was so excited and those babies were so cute.

I have two gold fish, a black molly and a regular gold fish, in a two gallon glass bowl with air pump. My two grands discovered the fish at Walmart were for sale. LOL

When gds (2), were small I thought it would be fun for them when they visited....they lived three blocks away, so visiting was often.......bought an average size tank, all the fixings, and let them pick out fish. Nice variety..cool at first, then fish began to die off, must replace them! Then tank needs to " really get cleaned"... And guess who had to do that. About two yrs later, girls were no longer interested, I got tired of replacing fish, so it all got dumped! Had parakeets at one time too...messy! Now just dog & cat...life is so much easier.......

I'm glad you can enjoy them. I had a fish tank and it was more than I wanted to deal with. Came home one evening after work only to see a discoloration in the water and my 2 angel and another couple (can't remember species) were dead. I smelled coffee. One of son's friends girlfriend splashed some of her espresso in my tank. I was so mad. Made her pay for it. I think they're beautiful and happy for you. Thought it was going to be a bad Craig's List post.

WOW, before I moved I have an outside koi pond and oh I just loved it. It was about 1500 gallons and every year I had so many babies. It was amazing to watch them grow. We can't have one where we moved.

Looks like you have some pearlscale angels and some Black marbled ones from the pictures. I love Anglefish. They are so graceful looking when swimming around.
I just took down my tanks due to arthritis problems--( I had the Koi angels). 22 tanks was to much work--so now I just quilt
I do have my small pond next to my flowerbed though- now I just watch the goldfish & Koi swim around.

You're very fortunate. We used to have several fish tanks, including a salt water tank. We bought a pair of breeding angels with the hope of selling the babies, however, we managed to shorter their life span a whole lot and lost them both. I do love the angel fish though.

Thanks everyone, I think I would be lost without it, I just love to watch them swimming around. I have had them breed but never hatched.

Very nice! I have a 100 gallon freshwater tank. I have 4 angels in there right now. Love the angel fish, however, they are fairly aggressive. My favorite fishes now are Rainbow's and Denisoni Barbs.

Beautiful Fish , I had many tanks when I was a kid and loved them and they all had personalities , I had Cichlids in Several tanks , Angels , Mouth Breeders , Siamese Tiger Fish , Oscars , etc

We, too, used to have a fish tank (it did grow but maxed out at 36 gallons), then we moved to a place that had no room for it and we had to get rid of it and the fish. We started out with quite an assortment and 2 Oscars -- unfortunately, the Oscars preferred the other fish to their food and we wound up with 2 large Oscars. Sigh -- but they were fun to watch.

Yes Oscars do like to eat other fish, my daughter had one and it was huge. I think I would have a tank in every room if I could afford it.
