When making an appointment, ALWAYS mention what your issues are when scheduling the appointment and that way, enough time can be scheduled for you and the Doctor will know in advance what you need - no surprises! If I were you, I'd phone the Doctor's office and ask to speak to the person that fills out the billing paperwork and go from there. |
I have never heard of anything like this! And I thought I had it bad when my doctor raised his office calls to $195. Sounds like something wrong with the billing system back there or people are getting ripped off with double billing.

One specialist I go to for Fibromyalgia charges by the 15 mins....15 mins with him cost $94.00. My first visit with him was over $500, as I spent 2hrs plus with him....face to face the entire time talking and exam. Did I mind paying that? No not really. As I have discovered, this doctor truly cares about you...and approaches your care from a holistic point of view. Now, after almost four years with him, I am in and out in under 15 min, and get the care that I want. I think when you find a doctor you are really comfortable with, it is a little (notice I said a little) easier to pay a higher fee. Just my thoughts.

I'm a CCA and yes, this is correct coding, and its allowed by the correct coding iniciative. i know it does not seem right. but if you go see the dr for a well visit and he also takes care of another problem not related to the well visit he is allowed to bill for the office visit also. but the insurance pays 100% of the well visit and only allows 50% of the office sick visit. and u should only pay what your insurance allows and most of the time it should charge only one copay. if it wants u to pay more than one copay for the visits on the same day call your insurance to cover for it . also this is more work for the doctor because he has t o document 2 seperate work sheets one for the well visit and another for the sick visit which is more documentation. and more responsability.
