Dog beds I made today.

I made two beds for the dogs. We put them in the garage at night when it is cold. The pictures are both sides of one bed. The other is exactly the same. I closed it with Velcro so I can replace the stuffing after washing the beds. I made them like large square pillow cases.

I bought the fleece fabric at Goodwill already cut and snipped for a rag quilt. Never again will I sew a rag quilt pre-snipped! I stuffed both of them with scraps out of one of my bins. The thought was to use the entire tub for stuffing........LOL......I barely used half of it.

Enjoy!

p.s.

Yes, that is a fancy looking rug on the floor of my garage. And yes, my Dodge pickup deserves such a cozy place to park in........LOL

Great looking beds. Your dogs will appreciate the softness of them. Concrete is cold year around and permeates to the bones. A great idea.

Great idea! I made my dog a blanket. I had scraps of fleece left over from making baby blankets (I square up the fabric and crochet a border on them for gifts). Anyway I took 4 pieces of boy scrap fleece and sewed them together. He loves it...and a good way to use up scraps. My 2 pups currently have 2 beds. 1 in their kennel and 1 in my sewing room. My Eddie likes to drag it around too.

I am making some dog beds using the leftovers fabric & batting from quilters and I was trying to figure out that making a pillowcase out of fleece so that the pillowcase could be removed to wash instead of the entire bed. An organization out here burned out there washing machine motor because of the weight of the dog beds when wet. Money is always tight with organization that are recusing critters.

I plan on doing away with the scraps in it now when it's time to wash them. By then the scrap fabric will be stinky anyways. This way I don't have to worry about shoving that large pillow into my washer. I can just wash the case and dry it, then restuff it with fresh scrap.

looks like they'd love laying on them and tossing them about.

They loved them! I can see where they slept on them. Bella likes to curl up in a ball and Cali stretches out when she sleeps.
Cali has no mercy when it comes to lounging or sleeping, she will sprawl out.

They are a family (Mom and 2 daughters) we rescued from the Humane Society. We put an area rug down, the kind you put in front of the sofa. And a oil radiator heater set on low and placed between their beds. When it is especially cold, like below zero we placed rolled shop towels along the bottom of the garage door.
The during the winter we try to keep the temp around 50 degrees. Same with the shop since that is where the other daughter sleeps. Mom and her don't get along, both are Alpha females. So my girl Chili Palmer has a room to herself....lol
