I always teach mine with tiny pieces of hotdog. They love the scent, the bulldog now brings me random stuff, hoping I will give her a piece of hotdog, lol!

I suggest peanut butter or braunschweiger as a treat. All my dogs over the years will swallow any kind of nasty pill I hide in either one.

The dogs we have now will stop just out of reach when they are suspicious that it might be bath time or are feeling guilty but if they smell peanut butter or braunschweiger--they're willing to risk a bath. Both products work great for mouse trap bait also.

You can try avoidance training. Pay attention to her and praise while she's got the toy. The second she drops it, look away and ignore. Most dogs will figure out pretty quickly that bringing it to you will keep you from ignoring them.

Dogs are dogs. 8 lbs or 80 lbs. The ultimate attention whores.

I have a Border Collie that now barks to come in. That's OK, but then he walks right by us and goes to his room. Lays down and barks. He wants us to come to him and give him a treat. (the bucket of dog biscuits is in his room).
