That is an amazing photo, so beautiful.

My neighbor fostered, then eventually adopted a smaller version of your Lily. Her name is Abby and she is not a Dane but is still a large dog (white with black spots). She too, is blind but does have her eyes. It doesn't seem to bother her a bit. They go for walks and she comes up to you for her pat on the head and knows just where to go and when to stop. Must be the scent.

What a touching story. Animals learn to adapt to whatever comes their way.

Ahhh sweet babies :)

AWESOME Story!!
These are my babies. The whiter one is Icee. Icee is a "Lethal White"--many breeders will destroy a puppy that comes out with her birth defects. She only has one eye and that is extremely sensitive to bright light. She is also totally Deaf. She was in horrible living conditions by someone who had "saved" her from being destroyed. It took 6 weeks before my husband could touch her. The other girl is not her Seeing Eye Dog but her Confidence. Katie was slated to be destroyed 1 day after she was pulled by a rescue. She is also Deaf. Katies confidence is what has allowed Icee to blossom into the wild, happy, loveable dog she is now. Katie is also my Medical Alert Dog! Animals are Amazing!! Yes I have seen this picture before but my facebook page is mostly animal rescues anyway. They were up for adoption and were adopted together.
My little guy lost an eye last year and this year his remaining one is giving him fits. He is getting little fluid filled bubbles on his eye that are painful. He is handling it like a trooper which is unusual for him since I have him cause he was a biter if you tried to pick him up. Now he waits for me to pick him up and put him on the floor or on the bed. I am making him go downstairs etc. It's painful for me to watch him run into things but he has to learn to get around. Anyway. I am now a " seeing eye Person" lol ... My DD said he needs a seeing eye chihuahua. But he really doesn't like other dogs near him. He ok if they are in the room just don't touch him. :)I wish he had a buddy I would feel better. |
Heart warming! You gotta love animals!
|
I have a blind rescue horse. My daughter walked her around the pasture for a few days to let her get to know the lay of the land. She would count the steps from fence to fence. She knows where to stand by her feed bucket when feeding time comes. My pygmy goats keep her company and she gets around great. I have a great dane and his best friend is a Boston Terrier mix.

Love the picture story and also your quote. That is what we all need to do. Fly as high as you can!

What a sweet pic animals are smarter sometimes than us people. We should take some lessons. Thanks for sharing. Sue

Friendship is such a blessing for all of us.

I love this picture...I had 2 Silkie Terriers and one became blind (Genetic and could not be corrected) and the other never left her side. Blind Angel died first at 16 and Katie followed about a month later ..our vet said she was broken hearted..she was 16, too. I miss those little girls!!!

Wonderful picture and heart wariming.

How wonderful for these dogs to have one another. Am curious about the first pic- was the second one trained to be a guide, or did it just happen naturally? Companion animals are such a blessing. My hubby is still missing our cat who passed in January. - they were inseperable.

Animals are special in so many ways. Thanks for sharing this beautiful relationship with us.
