Don't miss places in Denver CO area?
 

I will be in Denver for 5 days and want to check out some LQS while there. Any special places? We'll be staying in Morrison CO. Last time we visited, we tried finding shops but most were closed. That was disappointing. Does anyone local have any ideas? Thanks in advance!

I know there is a shop in Golden right on the main street. There is also one in Idaho Springs. Don't remember the name and also check the phone book as there are a few in Denver. I don't get to them much as I live in Conifer.

Colorado Quilting Council publishes a great monthly newsletter, Colorado Threads. It lists a directory of quilt stores all over the state. It would be current. PM with your snail address, and I will send you a photocopy of the directory.

Or you can Google Colorado Quilting Council. Once the web site comes up, click the contact box and a listing will come up. Click the contact for the newsletter and see if a copy of the directory can be sent to you.

Be sure and try to have time for the Quilt Museum in Golden I think.
I've not been there yet, the one time we were there I was on crutches and they were closed.
My preferences: or at least the places closest to me...
If I am looking for something specific, I can usually find it at one of these three. Also great staff and very helpful when you need an idea or two.
Holly's Quilts -County line and Colorado Blvd.
Since Great American Closed down, they have expanded their store, and have a good assortment of everything.
Creative Needle- South Broadway and Ridge Rd
Marge and her crew have a lot of everything too, and Cross-stitch and machines and parts.
High Prairie - Out in Parker (sorry don't know the exact address.
Jeanie and her staff have just expanded this store too, although I'm not sure that they are as big as the other two.
Up north off of I-25 and 132nd there is Tomorrow's Heirlooms.
This one was bought out 1-1 1/2 years ago. They are not the store they used to be, but they are creating a new place.
I am sure there are a lot more smaller quilt shops that you can google and find.
Although I do know of 2 up north where you will be that closed down in the past 3-5 years due to illness or the economy that would have been nice to visit.

Angellight, thanks for the info... my DH and I spend a few days in Breckenridge in the fall and last year we didn't take time to shop hop... on the way home, he said "next year we'll hit the shops"... I'm ready now!! Can't wait...

Looks like you've been told about all the great places. High Prairie Quilts did just have a redo and is great.

I don't go many places but CO is one place I have been. Don't miss Golden, walk around town and the quilt museum there and the quilt shop right across the street. (if its still there) The quilt shop was closing and stayed open just for me and the lady couldn't have been nicer. It has been years. Golden is one of the most peaceful,calming towns I have ever been in. The statues all over town are wonderful Also I went to the factory that makes teas Celestial Seasonings It was really interesting if you like that sort of thing. There is Red Rock , I didn't get to that... We only had a day and 1/2 there I wish I had had more time. So many things to see.

Just up the mountain out of Boulder, is an old mining town called Gold Hill. decades ago my hubby worked the bar at the Inn there after his day job in Denver. The first time he took me up there, i noticed long stretches of No Guard Rails. That woke me up! it's a cute mining town with dirt streets and board walks.
