I don't ever let my DH go to the grocery store alone and I try not to let him come with me either. He buys way too many "why nots". You know what that is -- going down the chip aisle and he sees the tortilla chips and thinks 'Nachos or Guacamole or Salsa' and tosses them into the cart. Further down are the regular chips and he thinks 'chips and onion dip' and in goes the dip chips. We get to the ice cream and he sees just the vanilla and automatically thinks 'root beer floats'. Same goes with cookies. Get the idea? Why not have this and why not have that and before you know it there are so many why nots and not enough need to haves in the cart, the bill is way beyond the budget. My hips are growing just at the thought of it all! I try to bring home just one or 2 goodies that should last until the next shopping day but he can't say no, he can only say why not.

Can't send/take mine either. He does the snacks and sweets but then comes the Steaks and seafood, not the cheap stuff either. He then complains about how big the bill is at the checkout. Last time I told him he has a champagne appetite on a beer budget. He grins and says "I knew there was something I forgot".

If mine goes to the grocery store I know what he'll bring home:
Diet Coke
Ice cream-- at least two kinds
Lunchmeat
Hot dogs
Chips
Dip
and very little else
Then he complains if I don't "cook" a full supper.
Once I heated some chips in the microwave and gave them to him. I said, "I cooked what you brought home." He didn't see much humor in it. Ice cream doesn't do well in a sauce pan either.

I try not to send mine. He never looks for the sale items. If i need one of something he will bring home three "just in case"
HE always spends triple of what it should have cost!

When first married I sent my dh to the supermarket to get some salad fixings - tomato Ok, lettuce and cucumber.

He came home with tomato, cabbage and a zucchini. Oh, and cookies
