Double gauze for chemo caps?
My daughter asked me to make some chemo caps for a friend of hers. I know they can be hot in summer weather. Do you think double gauze would work? Thanks for any feedback.

I think it would depend on the style cap you are making I have used the soft cotton knits sold for baby clothes.

Do you have suggestions of patterns for good chemo caps?

My hair is just growing back from chemo so I'm still in the cover my head era of life. I didn't wear a wig but instead wore caps and scarves. I live in Florida and haven't really had a problem with being too hot with a cap on and believe me to gets hot in Florida this time of year. I don't wear one around the house, only when I go out in public. Keeping caps on is a challenge because your head is slippery with no hair. I wore an under cap with grippy on the edges to keep my scarves and caps on. I got it on line at Wrapunzel. I had more issues of getting cold in the winter months and wore cotton knit caps to bed and around the house to stay warm. To go out in public I had my scarves that I wrapped around my head. In public I didn't want anything too tight on my head because I felt it made me look bald with a pattern on my head. I wanted some fluff or shape to the head covering and the shaper I got at Wrapunzel did that in addition to holding whatever scarf or cap in place. I have gotten a lot of compliments on my head coverings, sometimes from strangers, over the last 6 months. Whether they were just trying to make me feel better or they really liked what they saw is irrelevant. I appreciated them.

I wore a surgical cap at home after my head was shaved and a scarf when I went out.

I made a few different colored chemo caps for a friend from high school a few years ago. I made them from the thin fleece from Walmart. She and I had fun designing them. He favorite one was the one we styled as curly pigtails. It was just a round hat pattern and added the “curlies” on either side. (She always had beautiful, smooth long blonde hair, so she really liked having long bright red ringlets hanging on her shoulders.) Lol.

I had used a free pattern from Hancocks. Not sure if it is still out there. My GF favorite was made out of a pretty minkie feeling fleece
