Downton Abbey

Here in the UK Downton Abbey will be starting the first episode of the last ever series in an hours time. Looking forward to it - but sad as there will be no more shows. There MAY be a film in the future. !!

Wow QuiltnNan, Lucky girl !!

I love this show! So sad it's ending! While I don't agree with everything from that era they have kept it interesting!

They just sold Lady Violet Crawley house.

I too am sad to see this series end, much like several of my other favorite series have ended.

So sad to hear its ending too but I've got my order in for the DVD already. I've noticed they're starting to show the reruns on PBS now too.

My favorite show! I can't wait to see the 6th season, but totally miserable that this will be the final year.

I have everybody's story lines sorted out, though, so what's left is to see if the producers agree with me!

Well - the first episode last evening was great - and will be well worth waiting for - I will so miss this fabulous show !

I am sad to see it go, also.

Oh my such a beautiful manor.....what a way to live! Wander thru those halls and wish those walls could talk! Here in America, and maybe elsewhere, that I don't know, old buildings are demolished for whatever is new and modern.....

As an aside...a daughter of a friend is heading for London for a Masters scholarship for two years...what a great opportunity to see history.....

You all know that they skipped so many years between seasons that the Dowager Countess Violet would have to die because of her age. She and Isobel Crowley make the show so enjoyable. It is like watching a tennis match !!

ctyankee 09-22-2015 03:00 AM

I thought of that, too, ManiacQuilter2, about the dowager countess ... but I'm in denial.

I am anxiously waiting for it to begin too - and will be very sad when it's over, but hopefully something else will be offered that will be just as enjoyable - leave it to Masterpiece!

Well I guess you will just have to come across the big pond and "re-view" it when it starts here in the US in January. You're welcome at my house. We'd have a ball. Quilt all week and watch Downton Abbey Sunday evening!;)

I love the shows we get from England on PBS. Going to miss D.Abbey.

Brett Quilts 09-23-2015 06:29 AM

So sorry to see this end!!

Onebyone 09-23-2015 06:38 AM

I watched it online from the UK. I will certainly miss the show. But with the success of it I'm sure there will be more shows like it soon.
