Downton Abbey update- O'Brien gone
 

"Meanwhile, the producers have confirmed that villainous housemaid Sarah O'Brien won't be back. Siobhan Finneran, who played her, is leaving the show."

As I understand it, actors in England commit to a 3 year contract. Mathew, Sybil and O'Brien actors did not want to sign a new contract or continue. Sybil and Mathew both died in the show. The article did not say how O'Brien is leaving.


Do you think she'll get hers before causing her to leave or that she is just written out? 11 months to find out.

O'Brien is to get a job with the household they were all at recently. remember the party where their maid spiked O'Brien's drink and the man drank it instead. She told the lady of the house and i'm sure she will fire that maid and offer O'Brien a job with them.

I won't miss her. She is MEAN. Guess she's a good actor!

Hey, Downton Abbey fans! Can you please wait until the new season, before you spill all the plot twists? At least "spoiler alert" in the title - not just blurting out what happens!

Can't wait for Season 4 - LOVE LOVE LOVE the show. It is so addictive.

I heard about the show on the quilting board and I have become addicted. Can't wait for the next years twists and turns.

I would have taken another actor for Mathew's story line.. Sybil makes for more conflict.. but mathew, he was the glue.. new glue.. but glue for Mary and her father.. whaaawww.. would have liked the charactor whomever played him.. now the O'brien.. did not like her or her charactor.. lol.. we get so invested in TV... :)

I haven't heard offically about season 4 in the US, but season 2 and season 3 started in January.

Every show needs a bad part so someone else may become that next season. Where did you get this info about O'Brien?

quiltmom04, This was been in the news, I don't think anyone is spilling the plot. The last several days the news has been featured on Yahoo.com home page, so anyone could read it.

In the U.S., the new season will begin in January, 2014. I think it's just rude that they make us wait so long!

She was wonderful to dislike, what an evil witch she was and that is the sign of a good actor for me. I am absolutely addicted to Downton Abbey and can't wait until Season Four. I sure hope Brendon Coyle, Bates, signed a very long contract as I love him. Have to agree with another member, if you have seen episodes of the 4th season please don't tell without a "spoiler" alert. Many thanks.

Agreed. Lots of this is out in the public domain. If you don't want to hear it, maybe you can start a thread with 'no spoiler' in title. Otherwise, I assume we may be hearing it when we click on the thread. I'm ok with hearing what has been released! Can't wait for season 4!!
