Drawstring pants
I'm thinking about making dress pants with a drawstring waist, what fabric will drape well and easy to work with? Thank you for your help, Michele

for dress pants, maybe a chameuse (not sure of spelling)

Some fabrics drape better one way than the other. So be aware of grain lines.

I do not like drawstring waistbands. I had rather use elastic.

Rayons work well for drawstring pants. They aren't always the easiest to work with but not too bad. Charmeuse is very pretty but a bear to work with. It slides all over the place! I have some beautiful charmeuse that I haven't gotten the nerve to try to make up yet.

If I remember correctly there is an elastic sold BTY that has a drawstring in it. It should give you a nice finish especially for dress pants.

Thank all of you for your help ! Michele

What about that new wide elastic they are using with knit skirts?

Several years ago I bought some of this elastic at Denver Fabrics (now Colorado Fabrics).
So far I have not used it, but I bought it with the intentions of making some sleep shorts.

Nice weight knit fabric, linen, tencel and silk all make nice drawstring trousers, I would use silk or silk crepe for dress trousers.
