Dresses for little girls
2 Attachment(s)
I mentioned in an earlier post that my sewing has taken a different direction this year which I am totally enjoying. I am now sewing for a charity which provides dresses for girls in orphanages in Sri Lanka. I have joined forces with another couple of ladies in the team and we sew for size 6/7. The co-ordinator would like approx. 80 dresses in this size so we will be busy over the coming months. So far I have completed 14 which can be seen below. There are 3 more in the nearly completed stage with 5 more cut out. We have sewn up nearly 60 between us so the goal will be reached well before the container is packed later on in the year.
The fabric used in the photo below was all donated. The plain fabric used in the skirts was donated and the floral fabric was left over from clohes that I had previously made my granddaughter. |

Oh what a joy for those girls to receive these beautiful dresses! Love the patterns you are using.

These are so sweet! I love to make charity dresses too. This is the pattern I usually use. Rather than put the binding around the edges, I line the bodice pieces with a very light cotton. That makes it fast and easy.
