Duplicate Tools
Are there any tools that you like to have more than one of?
and why? I usually need duplicates of some of the following because I tend to misplace the other ones - Seam rippers Hand sewing needles Thimbles Scissors Beeswas - I just started using it on the thread ends to make threading the needles easier - what took me so long? I have machines at opposite sides of a room - so it would be nice to have "sets" of needed items at both locations. Have any of you made duplicate kits/cases for some of those items? One of the ladies on our quilting group had a tiny little "kit" that held a bobbin of thread, her needles, a thimble, and a tiny scissor. |
Definitely seam rippers, tweezers, scissors, bendy lamps on all tables, tape measures scattered around, pin cushions here and there....

Duplicates of all my rulers except some specialty rulers. Notions I say triple or more of the same items. I know I have over a dozen seam rippers, scissors, and about six rotary cutters. Lots of mats.

I have cheater glasses at every place I sew and pencils. Large cutting boards and little ones everywhere. 2 irons in case 1 burns up when I need it badly. Regular ironing board and one of those iron on one side, cut on the other side by my sewing machine for certain projects....Oh my yes....I do have duplicates.

It seems that I am always looking for a seam ripper, and my thread clippers. Can never have enough of them.

Seam rippers, pin cushions all over, scissors( especially small thread trimming ones), chalk fabric markers in different colors, small rulers,
Plastic tabletop drawers by each machine with the sewing feet, bobbins, small screwdrivers, lint brushes etc |
Lots of duplicates in my room, scissors, rippers, etc. I keep one general box packed for class that stays in the class bag. Round turning cutting mat and a square turning cutting mat.
Lots of duplicate size rulers including two 20 1/2 inch square up ones. Some are just different brands that I like better. Oh and I sometimes buy two kits if I really like the pattern and fabrics. |
seam rippers (lots!); scissors, pins, marking pens, 6" rulers

That Purple-thing, pin-cushions.

I have multiples of several items, mostly rulers and rotary cutters. I have so many sew days because my sewing room is sooo small. I have duplicates in my van so I don't have to unload and reload it every time I go to a sew day. I have two machines that also stay in my van, just in case.

I have a river cottage with two machines and duplicates of everything. I also have a sewing box filled with everything for my camper. One thing I just Love is my bamboo stilettos (thank you Eleanor Burns), can’t seem to see without them anymore. I also have a CD/diskette player with audio books in each place.

I have duplicates if scissors, rotary cutter, seam ripper, pin cushion, and thread snippers. I keep them in the carrier for my small Brother that I take to classes and sit and sew sessions. Aside from those items, I try not to duplicate.
|
What are thread snips? I don't think I have that since I don't know what it is.
Bear, I have many of the same things too, along with scissors, every rotary cutter you can think of and a million rulers and cutting mats and and and :D |
Sometimes I wonder if I would pay better attention to my "stuff" if I only had one of everything.
|
I have several duplicates of small things and am glad I do.
