Dying Childs Request for Guiness Book of World Records

I just found out about this today and wanted to share with everyone. (Hope its okay to post on here)

A 9 year old boy, Dalton Dingus has stage 4 Cystic Fibrosis. They are not giving this little guy long to live. He loves getting Christmas cards, and is trying to set the record for the most Christmas/Holiday cards received. No money or gifts just simply a card. He has collected alot but is still short of the amount needed.

You can find his page on facebook: Dalton's Destroyers- Cure CF

Mail Cards to:
Dalton Dingus
HC 62 Box 1249
Salyersville, KY 41465

I checked this on snopes and it is true so if you find it in your heart to send him a card do so.

fayza 12-11-2012 01:22 PM

Thank you so much!! It's close to my heart I have 3 little boys of my own, and I just think its such a small request.

snownannie 12-11-2012 01:34 PM

I just addressed him a card to mail out in the morning! This is a good thing to do for a child. Hope he makes his goal.

dgeskine 12-11-2012 01:37 PM

I work in an elementary school and I will see if we can get some teachers on board with this one.

fayza 12-11-2012 01:39 PM

Thank you, dgeskine.
That would be so wonderful!

Krsy 12-11-2012 02:37 PM

Sending mine out tomorrow, such a great cause.

Elise1 12-11-2012 02:45 PM

According to his face book page, he has already set the world record. Here is what was posted on face book.

"Dalton has 37,031 cards so far and all of them haven't even been counted yet!!! It's so amazing and I feel so blessed that so many people care. Thank you everyone. But let's keep spreading this so no one will touch his record!!!! :)".

fayza 12-11-2012 03:13 PM

Elise1,
You are correct. I had read an earlier post that said he had 23,000 and still needed 12,000. Sorry about that.
However, I am still sending mine, and encouraging others to send theirs as well. The higher his record is the longer it will take for someone else to break. I am actually very relieved to know he met his goal, and got to see it happen. His cancer is in stage 4 and they sent him home to be comfortable :( This honestly just breaks my heart. We never know what each of us are going to face in life, and seeing things like this makes me believe there is still good in people.

It's the best 45 cents I've spent in a long time!!!

chips88 12-11-2012 03:24 PM

i also will send a card. that breaks my heart i hope all cards being sent . he will get to see them..:(

That's right. It's the "stage 4" that made me type cancer I just lost an aunt a few years ago to lung cancer (in stage 4)
Sorry I'm not stating the facts correctly, but my heart is in the right place.

Card going out today. So sad when a child dies or is terribly sick.

Pam Riggs 12-12-2012 08:10 AM

I will be sending out a card today. I will also send a note to my grandson's teacher along to see if I can get them on board as well. God Bless this child and his family. My heart goes out to them.

Realtorlin 12-12-2012 10:08 AM

Pam Riggs 12-12-2012 10:31 AM

It was on the news this morning that he reached his record but requested that cards keep coming in!

matraina 12-12-2012 02:36 PM

I rechecked snopes.com; and it is true. Sorry about that.

I would like to say a BIG Thanks to all those that have sent cards or will be sending one. Dalton has broke the record, bless his heart he is overwhelmed with cards!!! I believe he is going to be the record holder for a very long time!!!! I hope this will give his mother another precious blessed memory to hold on to. She has been on my mind so much. I guess its the mother in me, and knowing the love shared between mother & child.

I would also like to share a conversation I had with my 10 year old last night. As I was looking on facebook, at Dalton's pictures and reading about him I began to cry.

My son comes along and says: "Mom, do you know that kid"
Me: No.
Son: Then why are you crying?
Me: Because I'm thinking about his mommy, and how she will feel when her baby is an angel.
Son (with tears in his eyes): Because you would miss us if we went to heaven?
I shake my head yes
Son: Mom, lets send him 20 cards.

Of course, We didn't send 20 cards but it was so rewarding to know that maybe by having compassion for others, and my children seeing this at their young ages they will grow up to be wonderful, caring men.

We are all in this life together, and eventhough times are hard, and alot of people are doing bad things, for the most part PEOPLE ARE GOOD!!!

Thanks again to all of the wonderful members of the QB!!!

AuntieD 12-12-2012 06:56 PM

Thank you for sharing this information. I will send him a card tomorrow and include his family in my prayers.

I live in Kentucky and this story has been featured on our local news. It will make a dying child happy and will cost very little. I do not personally know the child, but THANKS to everyone that sends a card. Happy Holidays to all!
