Eagle Scout gift ideas

Hi everybody,
I just received an announcement for my nephew's Eagle Scout ceremony. It is a week away and too far to attend. I don't have time to make a quilt and I was planning to make one for his high school graduation next year. What is an appropriate gift? I'm assuming one is expected but am looking for your feedback.
Thank you,
lots2do

I gave my grand son a gift certificate.

My Eagle Scout liked the cash. Always the right size and the right color. I know giving cash is not the same as a gift. But making Eagle is a bit sad for them. After being in Scouts for years and years, it's over when they turn 18 and it's time to look forward. On to college and other challenges.

I made a bedrunner for a former student. Maybe you could just send a card with a minimal $ and build the quilt for his graduation around an Eagle theme.

Great news! I made my daughter's 2 sons wallhangings of Eagle in flight. Found panel on selling site. They became Eagles while in China about 2 yrs ago. My son became Eagle (1986), even wemt to Philmont 2x & got to drive the leader's RV 1x. You know out of 100 boys that start Scouts, only 1 will go all the way to Eagle? Builds such wonderful man character... Sure looks good on a resume... So proud!!!!!

send money. the cuff links are from the 50's. He'll be needing money for college and it will come in handy for him.
What was his Eagle project? maybe you can do something that incorporates that project.

I'd send a nice congratulations card and either money or a gift card. I'm sure he'll appreciate either one.

I'm not sure how many people wear cuff links or tie clasps regularly anymore. My husband doesn't own either of these! A watch would be nice, but they can be pretty pricey.

Thank you all. I did ask my brother, his Dad, and he said it wasn't necessary but I would like to do something special. He organized a roofed shelter for the track team members to hang their backpacks during practices and meets.

I wonder if I could make a wall hanging with Eagle fabric and pockets to put pictures in from his ceremony and project. It would take some coordination with his Dad.

Our grandson earned his Eagle last Fall and we went to the ceremony. I made a quilt from a Cheater Cloth piece from MSQC.
He received several gifts but that was his favorite. The cat sleeps in his room and took to the quilt . He puts it up every morning so she stays off of it. He really is very proud.
I had my long-armer quilt it for me, as I don't machine quilt.
Goo luck; the ceremony is very impressive. Hope you get to go!

Since the ceremony is so soon, money, the BSA gifts are good, maybe a piece of outdoor equipment (binoculars, fishing...). Even a card with a hand written note is good.

I gave my sons cash when they each got their Eagle Scout. Later, when I made their graduation quilt, I used one of their scout tee shirts and stitched on their badges as they made rank all the way to Eagle. They really liked that.
