Looks like a red -bellied woodpecker to me. You're lucky to be able to get such a nice photo.

I had to cut down my big ole yellow Maple and I miss those woodpeckers. I knew it was time because great big pieces of it kept falling. Even the squirrels are lonesome. I've never had so much light in my little house. I feed everything, even the groundhog. ~sigh~ wish someone would feed me. lol Miss my critters. Blessings, Ruth

I love Northern Flicas...Have you seen the females? They look like big starlings with long pointy beaks.

The bird in the photo is a red-bellied woodpecker. I think you may have your woodpeckers mixed up, the females don't look like starlings at all.
