Early Spring Dress

3 Attachment(s)
Our 8 yr. old grand daughter Cora asked me to make her a dress. So into the sewing room we go, she picks out a fabric. Then we are off to the dresser which holds my patterns.
After the dress is finished, I get to thinking.......a little girl needs a handbag, a new pair of shoes,a white sweater, some stockings and a headband and some jewelry. She loves to draw so I made the purse big enough for a small sketch pad.

I didn't take pictures of her shoes, tights and sweater separately. Her parents don't want her picture out on the internet. So I can't show her wearing her new outfit. So I had to cover her face.

Aw, she's so lucky! I remember a grandmother who spoiled me as well with handmade outfits - I'm sure she'll treasure the memory as well!

That is the kind of grandmother I would like to be as well. How awesome to show the next generation how to make something from things you already have on hand.

The dress and purse are so adorable. You did a nice job on both and what a lucky little girl she is to have a grandma that sews such gorgeous things for her. She will love that dress and purse for sure.

The dress and bag are perfect for this young woman child. I love the kitty mask too. What a proud grandmother you are.

You did a great job, and she selected a cute spring design. I can see by her posture, she is smiling from ear to ear!

My Mom made a lot of our clothes growing. She made my brothers shirts and shorts for play clothes. She made who knows how many dresses and girly outfits for my sister and I. She also made Dad's shirts and a lot of her blouses. I suppose a lot of that rubbed off on me, since I did the same for my kids.
Know I sew some for the grand-kids and of course for my self as well.

Thanks for all the lovely compliments. Her Mother says she will have Cora's spring photos (Easter) taken wearing this outfit.

Every time Cora comes out to visit she rummages through my stash of precut scraps. She picked out enough last time so I can make her "babies" a new quilt. Another project is turning a pair of pants that are to short into a long skirt for her.
