I take blood pressure medication, so does a friend of mine.
He says his 90 yr old, overweight grandmother refuses to go to a doctor but had high blood pressure (according to a neighbor nurse who checks her weekly). Instead of pills, she eats one or two cloves of raw garlic daily and her blood pressure is now normal and she never gets a cold etc. Has anyone ever heard of this? I like garlic but I don't know if I could eat it raw!! |
I have heard that, but have never eaten it raw. I do use it a lot in cooking.

my sis in law used to keep a jar of pickled garlic by the sink and pop those in her mouth whenever she was at the sink. she swears by garlic.

My Uncle used to swallow a whole clove of garlic with some milk and lived to a ripe old age. He always said that the garlic kept him healthy.

So a couple of you seem to have heard of this? Tell me, did the people you know who ate so much garlic, smell like garlic? It tends to cling to me...or come out of my pores or something. That's why I'm worried. (yes I brush, gargle, shower.....lol)

My dad chops garlic, puts it in a jar and covers it with olive oil. He eats it by the spoonful and never smells like garlic but I understand that smell can be a problem. I was also told not to put olive oil on garlic but not sure why. Dad has not had a problem. He is 83 and plans to be here another 10 years. They told me Sunday that they buy the pickled garlic too and are looking for a good recipe to make their own.

I love garlic and use it a lot in cooking. I've also heard the smell can work it's way out of the skin but so far no one has said anything to me. Hmmmmm....maybe they're just being polite and don't want to hurt my feelings. LOL!!! Have also read there are many health benefits to eating it.

Isnt garlic it own food group?
I never eaten it raw but we eat it pretty regularly around here that and hot peppers and hot sauce. As far as I know we dont stink around here and I have never had anyone run from me yet...... Billy |
Garlic is a natural anitibiotic.I take garlic capsules (the odorless kind). It is also good for keeping mosquitoes from biting. I take one/day. I get very few mosquito bites.

Hubs is full-blown Italian. His Dad did the same thing and never had health issues.
