severe chocolate shortage by 2014 due to political unrest along the Ivory Coast. This story was in the British paper this morning. I think I will start stocking up on my Zingers. Prices are supposed to skyrocket this year and have already risen 10 % this year.

Cyn 01-27-2011 09:43 PM

That's horrible! What's this world coming to??

SherriB 01-27-2011 09:46 PM

They will need to lock me away if that happens!!  I love my chocolate!!!

Mine's big enough for a couple of years' supply -- maybe I should start hoarding?

Okay so I am odd. I already know that. But the smell of Chocolate literally makes me sick.

Governments Are Falling Like Pop-Rocks!!!

"Officials are urging calm. And they're at a loss to explain why it gets worse every 28 days."

skitter 01-28-2011 07:05 AM

Chocolate is our favorate stable, although I do have a friend who is actually allergic to chocolate. I always feel sorry for her but now she will feel sorry for us if we can't afford to buy it.

Tink's Mom 01-28-2011 07:08 AM

I think that the chocolate would win in the battle of what we can afford to purchase...let's see....
Chocolate....razor blades for hubby???
Chocolate....hubby's favorite snacks???
Chocolate....cleaning supplies???
and the list goes on......lol

(BTW, my husband will buy me the chocolate if he knows that I'm out...life is better with chocolate.)

My late husband loved it, but that was one thing I refused to cook. If he wanted it, he made it. Somehow gravy was just not meant to taste like chocolate. I want my chocolate sweet with caramel.

missgigglewings 01-28-2011 04:44 PM

I sure am glad all my swap partners are making Chocolate Stars for me! They will appease my sense of deprevation when I can't have the real thing

renee765 01-28-2011 07:32 PM

Is this what the Mayans were referring to in their 'end of times' calendar?

Annaquilts 01-28-2011 07:34 PM

Hey to good side might be I will actually loose some weight. I do not care for any other goodies too much.

Mimito2 01-28-2011 07:55 PM

I am moving, somebody help me pick a nice spot where it grows. Hmmmmm..... Brazil... They have beautiful fabric there. I could take my treadle and not have to worry about electricity.

Follow the link (The Chocolate Review) go all the way to the bottom and look at all the processes. No wonder the cost is going up. Think we can make it ourselves?

Boscobd 01-28-2011 08:36 PM

Uh-Oh - I better start stocking up!! Not sure I can go more than one day without chocolate!

Naturalmama 01-28-2011 09:03 PM

Oh, no... this is serious. This can't happen.

quiltergirl80 01-28-2011 11:21 PM

what will we all do without our chocolate?

lalaland 01-29-2011 12:40 AM

Is that why my bag of chocolate candies went from $3.00 to $3.68??

Tink's Mom 01-29-2011 10:23 AM

I guess I won't be sharing any more of my chocolate with undeserving family members... ;)
