Egg Nog

I have an open carton of egg nog in my fridge. How many days past the sell date is it good for or after it is open?

I recently purchased a carton of eggnog twice the normal size I buy. Grew rather tired of it, so I looked up if it can be frozen. Yes, store bought can be frozen for up to 6 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator. But, homemade versions should NOT be frozen due to the raw eggs and no preservatives.

Gosh ... who has egg nog leftover? :)

What does the best before date say?
Go with it ... or just do a taste test and you;'ll know pretty quick!

When in doubt, throw it out. Especially when eggs and dairy are concerned. Site I googled said up to one week after opening.

Glad I threw mine out this morning. It's a rare occassion that there is leftover egg nog in this house!

Sotore bought is pasturized and you don't have to worry about the eggs causing problems. If it smells bad throw it out. I like it too. I don't always buy it. I like to add cinnamon to it and make french toast, butter it up and put syrup on it. Yum Yum!!

i was always told milk is 7 days after the sale by date. I would include egg nog in that. but if in doubt better toss than to be sorry

If you have 2 cups left mix it with a package of instant vanilla pudding and make a pie or just eat it like pudding.
