Eleanor Burns
I was watching a Quilt in a day episode and Eleanor had a ten year old Named Jackie Burns that she introduced as Grant and Orions half sister ,and her (Eleanors) friend.
Just curious..... |
I would like to know more too.
|
I had it DVR'd so I went back and looked it was in 2004 and the show was candy cane lane .
|
Maybe Bill Burns remarried and that is his child?
|
probably so. I didn't see it myself though. she's been on her own for a very long time. raised her boys by herself.

Not really relevant to your question, but there is a bio on her site that is very interesting.

I read somewhere and saw some pictures that there has been a man in her life for a while named Brian.
|
The little girl belongs to her x-husband and his wife.
Sounds like they really get along which is so nice. I love Eleanore Burns! |
Didn't she also remarry not long ago? It seems like I saw her with a gentleman she introduced as her husband (not Bill... this wasn't very long ago). Maybe it's his daughter?
|
I read the link, very interesting. I have her book - Lover's knot and have made two of them, very clear intructions.
|
I saw that episode and yes, the girl is her previous husbands daughter. He has more children also. Eleanor and he had the two boys. The little girl is their half sister and I think it is wonderful Eleanor is friends with her. She is teaching her to quilt also.
|
As a step-mom with two other step-mom's in the picture (two of us are "ex's" one is current) the best thing for kids, even when they become adults, is to find a way for everyone to get along. We all get together for all major events and treat each other as extended family...it was hard to work out, took years, but ultimately makes for a better example for kids and grandkids.

I pay Comcast extra just to get the RFD channel to watch her - she's worth every penny!
|
Of course a little girl would be fond of Eleanor Burns, she is someone to be fond of. And kids are the one's to follow

Eleanor's friend Brian used to work for her. He actually helps with sewing and designing some of Eleanor's quilts. I don't think they married. At least on the last video through Alex Anderson and Rickey Timms at E's Colorado home; they didn't seem to be married. Just good friends!

That is her ex-husband's daughter. They divorced many years ago, he remarried and had several children. When I was at Quilt in a Day for Teacher Certification Training last week, she introduced Chris who was working there. She said he was Orion's half-brother. We inquired...thought about it...then it made sense!

Holy cow! What does her private life have to do with anything related to quilting. If she had a million step kids and claimed them all it isn't anyone's business....sheesh!

Hi, Eleanor Burns chooses to share how her private life interconnects w her quilting life/business. She is an incredible role-model in both: she is a strong, intelligent woman, a talented businessperson and quilter, and a kind individual as evidenced by her ability to set the past aside and embrace her sons' half-siblings. Her humanity and integrity are choice behaviors that will guide women/men in similar situations and we can all learn from them. |
i have directv and rfd comes on channel 345
|
She's just honest and doesn't do it often. She had a very hard time but made it!!!
|
I bet it's her ex's child. I love her! Her "don't sweat it" attitude and down-to-earth instructions helped me so much when I first started quilting. I met her in 1995 in Paducah...actually I chased her down in the Kentucky Oaks Mall and she was nice enough to stop and let me babble at her about how much I loved her. My husband was probably so embarrassed.

On one of last year's block party programs, she came out (sort of) wearing her wedding dress, and later showed her wedding photos. In a more recent show, she spoke of her gentleman friend's nickname for her when she's "grumpy". Both instances were sweet, endearing, and silly...classic Eleanore Burns. I love her honesty, wit, and outlook on life, and I love to laugh along w her as I'm working away. She reminds me to not take myself too seriously :)
