Embroidery on Toilet Paper

1 Attachment(s)
I needed to come up with an idea for 15 gifts for new coworkers. I found a tutorial on how to embroider on toilet paper and decided to give it a try, using a design that could be stitched out in 3 colors or less. I have to admit, I'm pretty impressed with the results! I stitched it out on my Bernina Bernette Deco 600.

The tutorial is here on Embroidery Library: http://www.emblibrary.com/EL/ELProje...oductid=PR1041

Very pretty. I have to admit, I'm not sure how I'd react if I received a gift of embroidered toilet paper. :)

What a hoot!!

Well, I guess I'm hoping the recipients will like it because it's both unique and kind of funny.

I embroidered toilet paper for friends and family several years ago and they thought it was unique and loved it!!!

QuiltnNan 11-28-2012 05:21 AM

very nicely done... love the emb design you chose. thanks for the link

I would use it for decoration and threaten anyone's life that would use it.

Grandma Bonnie 11-28-2012 07:19 AM

I would probably display it during the Christmas season and then take the first square off and put it in a frame and put it with all my other decorations for following years!

Belfrybat 11-28-2012 07:49 AM

How wonderfully unique! I'd never thought it would be possible.

Peckish 11-28-2012 08:49 AM

Okay I think my reaction was partially due to the fact that the embroidery is so pretty, I would feel that using the toilet paper would be an insult to you (the O.P.). However, if you embroidered pictures of a certain few those-who-shall-remain-nameless politicians, I would definitely use it and laugh while I did! :D

Who would have thought.. embroidery on toilet paper! Does this mean I have seen it all!?!

lalaland 11-28-2012 04:13 PM

This is supposed to be for display purposes only, I don't know how much "life" you could get out of it but ideally you could put it in a basket with Christmas flora and people would "get" that it's for display only - hopefully - the ones to watch would be the guys.

Patti25314 11-28-2012 04:54 PM

What a hoot!!! The gift for someone who has it all. Thanks for sharing. I love it.

erstan947 11-28-2012 07:04 PM

This is the first thing on my list "to do" tomorrow morning.! I love it.....what a hoot:)

That is very clever and a great fun gift.

I made them before it a fun gift. I also have a Easter bunny that hold a roll toilet paper that I embroidery Happy Easter on it and wrap it with plastic wrap so it not use. It a hit at in my shop at Easter.

when I first read the thread, I thought using toilet paper as stabilizer when doing embroidery...and I thought, wow what a money saver that would be...and why not paper towel too for larger pieces...then I clicked and the pic appeared................say no more.....

annthreecats 11-29-2012 01:57 PM

It sure is pretty, but if I needed that roll and was in a jam, that embroidery would be gone. hehehehehehe

mrs. fitz 12-01-2012 04:43 PM

Lalaland, this makes a unique and wonderful gift and you're going to have some very happy co-workers. I'd be thrilled to receive this and I'd tell houseguests flat out DO NOT USE IT just in case.

sewnsewer2 12-01-2012 05:59 PM

Looks great! I've made them too, aren't they fun!

Deecee 12-01-2012 08:45 PM

Oh I love it - just wish I had an embroidery machine.

MimiBug123 12-01-2012 09:14 PM

I did this one year, but wrapped it in tulle and tied it with a pretty ribbon, just to make sure they knew it wasn't to be used.

ube quilting 12-02-2012 02:47 PM

My first ? is why would you want to do that? The piece is pretty but then what? IMHO, I'm not to sure about this.
Maybe a hand towel. Now that is something I can wrap may hands around!
peace

lalaland 12-02-2012 09:56 PM

I did it because it was something unique and I think my coworkers will get a kick out of it. I think I'll take MimiBug's idea and wrapped them in tulle, I will also put a "for display only" tag on them.

I love this ornament design! Could you tell me where you got it, please? TIA!

Jazzmyn 10-30-2013 04:43 PM

I also have done some of Toilet paper and most people thought it was Great!! I did take one roll to the quilting club I belong to so they could see it, well to my surprise a LOT of the ladies didn't say much at all as they still believe that toilet paper is still a very private thing. LOL!!

The design you chose is Great and fills the front really well.

A note to the ones that want to try this be sure to choose designs that are Not dense....outlines work Great!!
