Krsy 10-07-2012 04:30 PM

I have embroidered on TP and gave it as a fun gift to my family and friends at Christmas. I embroidered poinsettias on it.

renee765 10-07-2012 06:48 PM

Do you embroider just the top sheet for decoration, or do you unroll it and embroider throughout the roll? Or do you embroider once but all the way through the roll?

joysewer 10-07-2012 07:00 PM

You fold the first 3 sheets together and embroider on them....just one design on the beginning of the roll. You have to unroll a bit of the rest from the roll so it doesn't rip when the hoop moves on the machine.

Up North 10-07-2012 07:11 PM

I always thought this would be fun but could never figure out how without tearing nowI think I get it! do you also use stabilizer?

Tartan 10-07-2012 07:14 PM

It sounds interesting but in a different way. I wonder if you could use this method to make embroidery designs for applique? Do a dense design on 3 layers of the tissue and then soak it to remove it from the paper.

Too funny!

lynnie 10-07-2012 08:03 PM

Thanks for splaining...and people laughed at me for embroidering caskets, seriously.

alleyoop1 10-08-2012 04:25 AM

You have too much time on your hands!!!! :)

coopah 10-08-2012 04:53 AM

Well, now I think I have seen it all. Embroidery on TP? Really? It begs the question...why? (Don't answer, please. I really don't want to know.)

VannoyJ 10-08-2012 04:55 AM

Wow, this is absolutely funny! A good plan.

You don't use it on your bottoms; its for decoration purposes only unless you tear off the embroidered sheets and use the rest. I like giving gifts that people can't go into a store and buy very easily or even displaying them in my house. It's different and I like that.

laura59 10-08-2012 04:59 AM

My sister has a dog and a cat, so, I made some toilet paper designs for her. One has a cat sitting by some unrolled toilet paper and it says "I didn't do it" and another one where the cat says, "The dog did it". Then I have one where the dog is sitting by some unrolled tp and it says, "I didn't do it" and one that says, "The cat did it". I also have football, soccer, and some other ones. They are fun to do. I give them as gifts.

I have embroiderd on TP. I tore off 5 sheets and put soft cut away stabilizer on the back of the 3rd piece. Be careful of the design you pick as you don't want a dense embroidery. X-stitch works well. Stitch pattern, trim stablizer, and carefully put back around roll. Wrap with tulle and a ribbon. Here are my projects.

gammaginny 10-08-2012 05:19 AM

I love doing them. They sell great at craft shows.
Hoop tearaway stabilizer. Spray with 505. Lay 1st sheet if tp centered over stabilizer. Do not use dense designs. Unroll a few sheets so the hoop can move w/o tearing the tp. When done. I cut the stabilizer to fit the emb. sheet, then roll it back up. I then wrap the roll in celophane paper. Saran Wrap colored paper works great. Please do try one.

Great house warming gifts!

That sounds really cute. I have a small American Eskimo that is 2 yrs old and if she finds tissue or paper towel down she'll shred them. Thank goodness that she leaves the stuff on the roll alone. I got some really cute Christmas designs this yr to put on the TP. What kind of stablizier do you use? I know that's a loaded question because most of us have our favorites but I like hearing what others use to see if they have a better one.

k9dancer 10-08-2012 07:18 AM

If I were to go to that much trouble, I think I'd embroider on a reusable toilet paper cover. Less likely to get flushed, especially in a house with kiddies.

I agree!!
Way to much time.....LOL

bearisgray 10-08-2012 09:59 AM

They are cute -

But in our household it would be considered a waste of good paper and thread.

grandme26 10-08-2012 11:26 AM

I love the idea and this will make a great fun gift for me to give at Christmas to my daughter's in-laws plus my children.

laura59 10-08-2012 12:07 PM

Sometimes I use cutaway, and sometimes I use tear away, it all depends on which one is closest to me at the time.

SandScraps 10-09-2012 05:52 AM

Well, this was certainly a first for me. I definitely learned something new and different today. It really looks nice, but my time is too, too, too limited. This is not going on the bucket list. For now, anyway.

Connie1948 10-09-2012 08:52 AM

I love to embroider on TP! It is fast and easy. There on directions on emblibrary.com and on goodiesbygail.com
Gail has some of the funniest designs for TP out there and great prices. I have over 50 of them and they all stitchedout beautifully. These make great housewarming, hostess, batchelor party, retirement and so on gifts. Just be sure they have a since of humor for some of them.

gramquilter2 10-09-2012 09:48 AM

I too have embroidered on TP (for gifts for my quilting friends). It is easy/fast and a gift that people talk about for a long time. If you like to use your embroidery machine this is just one way to use it. Nice for display only don't use it!

Up North 10-09-2012 09:51 AM

I am seeing Christmas gifts in my future! I will buy a pack of cheap TP and use the good stuff for around the front!!

MimiBug123 10-09-2012 10:23 AM

Just don't try to embroider on the cheapo kind, and make sure to clean your machine after you finish! They are really cute for gifts, and people like them for display. Just make sure that they know not to use it!

btiny36 10-09-2012 11:07 AM

Holy wow love them all...I need to try this for some great gag gifts for christmas...

Smart idea. Just think of it this way. If you run out; you can take the decorative sheets off and use whats under. When you buy more put the decrative one back on a new roll. See, it not only serves as a conversation piece, it decorates and it's usable when needed (minus the design)

gigi4419 10-10-2012 03:03 PM

Neat idea!

gramquilter2 10-10-2012 03:35 PM

You can go to http://www.emblibrary.com and go to their free projects page, Kenny has directions on how to embroider on toilet paper.
