Everyone,
Thanks so much for the kind words.
I have a friend who was in the same area of Tahoe when I took the picture of the rainbow. His daughter "enthusiastically" alerted him to the sight. He said she asked him, "Dad, where's the pot of gold?" I suggested to him that he should have told her that she was vacationing in it!

Growing up in the Midwest, I never heard of Lake Tahoe. Then, I "landed" in CA in 1982...and remembered how intrigued I was with the 1960 Winter Olympics at Squaw Valley. In 1960 I had no clue as to where Squaw Valley is...still didn't until I looked at a map of CA in '82 and saw that it was just south of I-80 / Truckee (the location of the tragedy of the Donner Party's efforts to cross the Sierra Nevada).

Yes, I have dozens of pix of Tahoe, but this one captures the mood and the tranquility. It's a major blessing to be able to take our dog for his morning "walk" and to watch the sun come up over the eastern ridges of the Sierra.

Unfortunately, we don't get to visit our "Tree House in the Pines" as frequently as we would like, but when we do....

As an aside, our son is getting married in January...he and his bride will be in our "Tree House in the Pines" for a brief honeymoon. Lucky kid...with his bride at Lake Tahoe. I think he knows how blessed he is.

A year or so later, our family went skiing @ Squaw OH MY GOSH! IF YOU EVER GET A CHANCE TO GO TO SQUAW VALLEY, TAKE THE CABLE CAR TO THE TOP OF THE MOUNTAIN! THE VIEWS ARE BEYOND BREATHTAKING!!!

It was then that we discovered Lake Tahoe. Then, it hit me, that map that gets burned through at the beginning of the old Bonanza series if of Lake Tahoe! I had seen Lake Tahoe, but didn't know it.

We've enjoyed Lake Tahoe for nearly 25 years...and those afternoons when the lake is "inky blue", the sun shines on the sails on the boats, and you look out over the vista, you're dramatically and humbly reminded of how creative the Master Landscaper of Genesis truly is. (Of course, He didn't do a bad job with Arches National Monument in Utah, either. )
