last night at 11pm we get a call I could hear party noises in the background so I knew it had to be a butt call from my son sometimes they last 10 or 15 minutes I usually listen just to hear what he's talking about

sewTinker 01-15-2011 03:42 AM

I've gotten many purse calls from my daughter. They're always boring because I can only hear what her wallet sounds like bumping into her day planner. lol...

raptureready 01-15-2011 03:44 AM

Doesn't it make you wish you had a little zapper that you could attach to your phone so that you could give him a little shock to the rear? Just enough to make him jump all funny in front of his friends and then shut his phone off. Maybe you should keep a loud whistle nearby and blow it into the phone. After a few times of his friends saying "Hey man, your butt's whistling again." He'd be more careful. LOL

Airwick156 01-15-2011 03:45 AM

LOL. I haven't had a "butt" call, but I have had a "pocket" call.
Just a few months ago, my sister had put her cell phone in her pocket and she must have been leaning against the counter or something but my phone rings and it comes up as my sister and I thought "oh how cool shes calling me in the daytime" I rarely hear from her so I was a bit excited. Anyways, I can hear her talking to someone and alot of noise in the background, I kept saying "Hello Hello hello" and she wasnt answering me. So I would hang up the phone and wait a few minutes and she called me back and again the same thing. I could tell nothing was wrong because of what I was able to hear. So I called my mom and she called my sisters job just to tell her TO STOP CALLING me if she wasnt going to talk to me. LOL And thats how we found out it was her Pocket that kept calling me. lol

moonrise 01-15-2011 03:46 AM

ROFL! I've never heard them called that before, but it makes perfect sense!

Yep, my DH "butt calls" me ALL THE TIME. I answer, and either hear nothing at all, or hear him talking to his co-workers if he's at work. I usually just hang up, but sometimes I listen for a few minutes. ;) Although I haven't heard him say anything particularly interesting, I do mess with his head sometimes. "Oh, so I heard that Tommy (co-worker) bought a new car!" He can't figure out how I know!

Usually it's only me that he calls, but he did "butt dial" (ROFL!) my late grandmother one morning at 5am. Although she knew who he was, it scared her because she thought something was wrong. He had her number memorized, so I made him delete her number from his phone so that he couldn't accidentally call her again.

Still giggling ... "butt calls"!

bjeriann 01-15-2011 04:07 AM

That happens with my son while he's at work as a security guard on 3rd shift. I have a whistle that I blow into the phone and it usually scares the scrap out of him because he's at a guard shack in the middle of no where. He always picks up to let me know that I scared him and I tell him it's payback for one of those things he has done that I don't need to know about.

Tropical 01-15-2011 04:43 AM

I have never gotten one of any kind. I did somehow send a purse call to my sil that showed up on her recorder. She called my DH to ask him if he got the cottage cheese he was supposed to get. We had gone to Walmart to pick up a few items. As soon as we got in the door, I reminded him he was to get the cottage cheese. We have no idea how the call turned up on her recorder because we have no ones' #s on our phone and we hadn't called her in quite a while. Technology- one never knows what it can do.

Shari1967 01-15-2011 05:06 AM

my husband does it all the time to me - drives me crazy!

brushandthimble 01-15-2011 05:11 AM

My son did it once late very late at night right when cell phones where getting popular. Took a long time to realise that is what it was, as I lay in bed for an hour waiting for another call.

thequiltmama 01-15-2011 05:22 AM

yep, I have had them done to me and I have done them. Now I lock my keypad when it is anywhere other than on my nightstand. I learned my lesson :-)

sueisallaboutquilts 01-15-2011 05:37 AM

A month ago I wouldn't have known what this post was about but then I got one!! lol
My son was at a Christmas party and I remember thinking how nice it was that he was calling me- WRONG!!! hahahaha
After I said Hello several times I got it :D:D

Favorite Fabrics 01-15-2011 05:42 AM

Yup. Got 'em. Hubby sent me a text that way this week to.

I told him I didn't understand it and couldn't pronounce it.

... something like that!

Jeanniejo 01-15-2011 05:49 AM

I carry my cell phone in my bra, it's the only place I can keep track of and it's always on vibrate so I know when I get a message. I do know however I've made a few unexpected calls and taken a few enexpected pictures. Oops! My family made fun of me until they saw the Victoria's Seceret commercial and the models were carrying their cell phones in theirs too !!!!

Sue Fors 01-15-2011 06:42 AM

My husband 'butt calls' me, and he has a flip phone! I have no idea how he does this!

CarrieAnne 01-15-2011 06:55 AM

LOL, I have also called home from my cell, and left my own butt message!

tomilu 01-15-2011 06:57 AM

Every so often I get a 2am call from a person in NM. this am, it was 3:55 and he said "your cat is in my tree". Now I don't have a cat and live in KS. Go figure.

littlehud 01-15-2011 07:43 AM

I usually get those from my daughter. I called my boss the other night by bumping mine.    Thanks goodness she just laughed when I told her.

Sounds like some kind of spy code ;-)

Quiltinggma-nc 01-15-2011 03:33 PM

I have had a purse call from DD, but what I really love is when my year old dgd calls. Or better yet she sent me a photo of her older brother today (twice) from her Mom's phone. She loves to play with the phone.

NCquilter 01-15-2011 03:46 PM

Yep, I've gotten a few from DH and I used to make some before I got a new cellphone. My old one wouldn't lock the front panel so sometimes it would call people.

In the summer, I do this too because I can't hear the phone ring over the noise of the mower, tractor..whatever. Believe me...on vibrate, when it rings, you sure know it!! Mine is a flip phone, so thankfully- not bra dialing...

jackkip 01-16-2011 07:12 AM

My DD does this all the time from work. She keeps her phone in her pocket. Last week she called and left me a 3 minutes message. When I told her, she wanted to hear it. If you listen closely enough you can hear her working. Thank goodness she only works during the day. Not sure I could take being woke up for a pocket dial!

everbtrue 01-16-2011 10:45 AM

I stayed home from church one Sunday, trying to sleep off a headache. Wouldn't you know my sister started butt calling me & I knew she was in church. I was debating calling her back as I didn't want to phone to ring during the service but finally I had to. Turned out it was a 'pocket' call & she was in with the children. She fixed it & I went back to sleep.

butterflies5518 01-16-2011 11:41 AM

my DD pocket calls me often while she is at work, after panicking the first few times, I just hang up if she doesn't respond - another time bf was watching hulu videos and he likes shoot em ups/cut em ups and disect them, I really panicked thinking someone had broken into the apartment and had him a gun point - I was really angry that time

My local quilt shop owner has a teenage daughter who is a real handful. She set time limits, set homework and study time, gave her time to be at home, but still worries about what she is doing between classes. Her daughter is getting paranoid about her mother tracking her every move. (I have to say that she needs to be tracked)....a few months back her daughter's phone called her Mom at the quilt shop. She listened to her daughter say, I'm jumping onto the front of the car.....no I'm jumping on....OK, drive down to the athletic field. Her mother hung up and called her back and said Get OFF OF THAT CAR! if I ever see you do that again, you will be grounded for 6 months......Daughter response, where is she? Mom, where are you? Mom's response, Always know that I am watching.

Debra Mc 01-16-2011 06:13 PM

That is too funny. My Ds has done it quite a few times to me. I just hang up & call him back.

HisPatchwork 01-16-2011 06:45 PM

I have a special ring when getting text. When 2 1/2 yr dgd pushed send on her sister's phone, it called me because I was the last one she texted. They didn't know she had called, so I talked to dgd a few minutes and she either put the phone down or sissy took it back. I said hello a few times to see if they would hear. When they didn't hear me I began to give that certain ring in the phone. Older dgd heard it and wondered what was going on so she listened. We all had a laugh. The ring is..."It's your phone in your pocket...I'm on vibrate, see?..brrrrrrrrrr..brrrrrrrrr. Answer it then!" I love that ring.

hperttula123 01-16-2011 06:55 PM

lol...that is too funny. I never got any butt calls!

New bra must have a pocket for cell phone. I learned 5 years ago to not put anything in my bra. We were on vacation and I hid three $100 bills in there just in case someone stole my purse.
Unfortunately when we stopped at a gas station I used the lady's room and it must have fallen out. About 2 minutes on the road I checked and it was gone. We went back real fast and no one had seen it (I know someone found it). Only people inside were migrant workers getting drinks and by the look on the female's face I KNOW she found it. Did not confront anyone, just figured I donated some money to a worthy cause....she looked like she really needed it!! NEVER again would I use my bra to transport anything!

I got one once from a friend who was in the bar with two of his friends all talking about a golf trip they had taken and about the women strippers that were in the bar that night. All of these guys are married so when I told them the next day they needed to lock their phones they were pretty embarrassed when I repeated their whole golf weekend back to them. So glad I could tell them that I was really happy I wasn't married to any of them.

Judie 01-16-2011 10:21 PM

I also carry my phone in my bra.. it's the only place I can keep it from getting squashed or dropped or left behind.. sometimes when it rings I get some strange looks.. but the funniest was one night I fell asleep and was just too tired to get up and get on my jammies.. I had a t-shirt on, so figured, oh well.. but later on I woke up and had this strange glow on me.. It was so weird.. I could not figure out where that light was coming from.. no lights on in the house.. curtains closed.. it was really starting to freak me out big time.. looked really weird.. then I realize that somehow I had turned on my phone and it was the phone light shinning through my shirt.. creepy when you're half asleep...

raptureready 01-17-2011 05:23 AM

There's been many times in my life when I've been called by some boobs but not a one of them were bra calls. LOL
Come to think of it cell phones weren't even invented back then.

Rann 01-17-2011 04:25 PM

Get a coaches whistle and blow it. Usually works. I used to have a phone that took pic in my pocket.

cheryl rearick 01-17-2011 08:45 PM

Heard it called many things but thats a new one on me, :)

My daughter is now 28, but when she was a teen I LOVED her phone. Somehow it knew to call me when she was in the wrong. Phone rang... no one there... but I could hear this conversation about shopping in another town. My daughter and her friend were headed out of our little town to go shopping in another town. Forbidden adventure! It was a LONG time before I told her how I'd found out. That sort of thing happened pretty often. It was wonderful. Got to where - after she wasn't grounded anymore - she had to call me from the land line phone wherever she was. Unfortunately I couldn't trust her just telling me where she'd gone. :)

These days her 2 year old calls me. We have great visits on the phone before someone discovers he has it.

And I'm waiting, just waiting, for the days when I can get out the popcorn, lean back in my chair, and watch the show as she deals with HER teenager!
