Excited for 580 miles!!!
Short notice trip from Minnesota to Indiana with my quilting girlfriend, we leave on Wednesday. My friend is planning on meeting some long lost family to learn more about her family-genealogy. About 28-30 years ago my hubby and I lived there...so I get to visit long lost friends and reconnect with them. Way back when I was busy with raising kids and learning how to budget no money. I wasn't a quilter, but I always wanted to visit Shipshewana and see all the nice quilts. HMMMM finally I get to do that, and with someone that has the same interests that I do, so we won't be rushed! This will be a short trip, so I've mapped out some spots to stop! We will want a Row by Row license plate from Illinois, Indiana, and maybe Michigan. I will be bringing my extra Minnesota license plates to see if anyone wants to trade. haha

Sounds like it will be a great time. Enjoy!!

Hope you have a wonderful time and a safe trip! And you won't be all that far from the Wisconsin state line, so you might get a license plate from there too.....Never mind about Wis., just noticed you are right next to the state line where you live.....

Well from a Michigan gal.... welcome to my little corner of the country. Shippsi is a dream and has so many shops close by. Five or six at least. There is a dear little shop in Middlebury that I stopped at a few weeks ago. Right in the center of town. It appears to be much like an Amish general store or clothier. The prices are good for fabric and the help was patient and sweet as I made choices. They are not participating in the Row by Row but it is only about 10 minutes from Shippsi.
Michigan my Michigan has so many shops and so may Row by Row participants. Have fun and welcome back. |
You'll love it down there. Be sure to stop at Lollys (sp?) where you'll find two floors of amazing fabric choices. The downstairs is all on sale or clearance. The upstairs has just about anything you could be looking for. There's also Yoders which is a soup to nuts type of store, including a lot of fabric at good prices. I've heard the bulk food store is awesome, especially if you're one who uses a lot of spices, seeds etc.
