I just deleted my Facebook page, but made some people aware and sent them a private message.

After a while the drama and issues on that is way to much.

Anyone else feel the same or have issues?

BrendaY 05-03-2011 09:05 PM

Yep! It's just too much information sometimes, and crowds my life...

Quiltforme 05-03-2011 09:08 PM

I keep my low key I have yet to get the hang of it.

Gramof6 05-03-2011 09:14 PM

I do not post on mine much but I do read to see what all is going on with my family members. LOL Otherwise I would never go to FB. I have never even found the games as I prefer to spend my computer time here.

dellareya 05-03-2011 09:21 PM

I'm about the same as Gramof6. I don't post very much, but I enjoy seeing what's going on with my children. My daughter is very good about posting pictures of grandsons on there. I do instant chats with my children when they are on.

Sewfine 05-03-2011 09:25 PM

Never been a member. Don't like it. Tooooooooo much drama for my blood.

I haven't deleted my Facebook page, but have had to unfriend a few people as some of their posts I found quite intolerant and offensive.

mhansen6 05-03-2011 09:27 PM

Don't do Facebook. I never understood the facination. Besides keeping up with this board takes up enough of my time.

Bluelady 05-03-2011 09:31 PM

I am on Facebook alot. I love a couple of the games and it helps me keep in touch with family and friends and with other quilting news and sites. I can share pictures of my GD and of my quilts and trips.
I either "hide posts" or delete folks who have a drama problem.

Qbee 05-03-2011 09:35 PM

I use it to keep up with cousins from out of state, etc. Mostly family and old classmates. The trick is to ONLY "friend" people that you really want to hear from. My kid's both have hundreds of "friends". I have all my family, the kid's and such and have like 50 total friends...LOL :D I like it that way :D

Annaquilts 05-03-2011 09:54 PM

LOL Must be the week for it. I deleted a bunch of people and took many pictures off not only FB but another one that is like FB too. I am still keeping it as all my adult kids have a FB. One of my son's is also deleting stuff. We are done with the drama and I was not even really posting.

Katy 05-03-2011 10:38 PM

I am keeping mine but I am spending my time here more and more. I do like to keep up with family there and some of my quilty girlfriends. Is your avatar a bischon? Mine is but he is apricot although he is not quite that dark anymore.

Vanessa17 05-04-2011 01:51 AM

I deleted my FB account too

gaby4v 05-04-2011 02:10 AM

I only have one to keep in touch with my kids in the states and see pics of my grandson.

jansquiltn 05-04-2011 02:24 AM

Had two friends marriages caputs after they "hooked up" with old school mates. Another on the rocks for the same reason. I really don't have time after posting here. :)

willowwind 05-04-2011 03:21 AM

I post on my wall judiciously. Most of it is pretty generic, don't put out too much info & only friend people I actually know.

QuiltingGrannie 05-04-2011 03:29 AM

I am on there a lot. Keeping up with old friends and made lots of new ones. I delete those that are negative and tend to be full of drama. Most of mine is full of positive and encouraging people. We are there for each other to lift each other up. I don't play any of the games and block posts of that type. Don't have time for all that. Just staying in touch with people I never would have before. Found lost friends from elementary, high school and other old friends who I'd lost touch with due to moving or life situations -wish I could find more.

Moonglow 05-04-2011 03:55 AM

Don't have enough hours in the day for Facebook. Would rather email or chat on the phone with friends.

Marion T 05-04-2011 03:58 AM

I know what you mean. I only use it to keep in touch with family overseas. I don't like it much though - especially hate the "shorthand" words. Nobody writes letters any more, probably because they don't know how to spell!!

Suzi 05-04-2011 03:59 AM

I thoroughly enjoy it ........ love reading about what everyone is doing with their lives ...... some funny and some sad but all interesting. Best thing about FaceBook: when it gets to be too much simply turn it off!!

cjomomma 05-04-2011 04:19 AM

I love Facebook! It has brought friends and family back in to my life that I hadn't seen or spoken to in years. Anyone who is all about drama and negativity gets deleted or blocked, that includes my kids.

sueisallaboutquilts 05-04-2011 04:30 AM

I have FB but only go on it once in awhile. I've had fun seeing old friends, some distant relatives, and keeping up with my friends in NY. I don't do games or anything b/c that would take away from my time here or quilting. Nope!!! :D:D

lallyann 05-04-2011 04:45 AM

I do facebook, but mostly it is an easy way for me and my sisters to keep in touch. It has been nice to reconnect with some family members and friends that I never thought I would see or hear from again, and for that I am thankful. I enjoy facebook, and I manage to stay out of the drama. Its really a choice thing. You can involve or uninvolve yourself as much as you choose. I know there is lots of drama on there, but I am never a part of it. So its all good here ;)

deedee75 05-04-2011 04:48 AM

I LOVE facebook! I have reconnected with many people from my past that I really missed. Since I now live so far away from family and friends, it's my way of connecting with them. Although, family members seem to enjoy airing dirty laundry for everyone to see, I simply put them on mute so I don't have to know about it.

Since I'm not comfortable talking on the phone, facebook is my way of letting people know I'm still alive. I mostly post photos, quips or a "daily weird holiday". A lot of people make a point to tell me that I have lifted their spirits for the day, which makes me feel good too.

KwiltyKahy 05-04-2011 04:57 AM

I don't post much on FB but I am able to keep up with my nieces and nephew, cousins and a few friends. My page is full of quilting sites, BCA and the United Methodist Church

deedee75 05-04-2011 05:07 AM

I'm really loving FB right now! I was just notified that I won my second contest via fb this year. Today is from Arrow Sewing Cabinets! I get to pick whether I want a Gidget II or a Chair-y!

sueisallaboutquilts 05-04-2011 05:08 AM

Wow!! Congratulations!! I never heard of contests on Facebook!

ptquilts 05-04-2011 05:09 AM

I have one FB account for me, one for DH. I use DH's for all the commercial stuff, contests, giveaways, coupons, etc. So it doesn't clog up my account. He never uses it himself.

oldswimmer 05-04-2011 05:13 AM

I try to keep mine low key. No grandkids yet, but do keep up with my son and daughter...who are way too busy to post much. I like seeing what my friends are doing and their kids and grandkids....and the rest of my family. I Do NOT do any of the games, and I block all of the game posts that come from people who do.

Up North 05-04-2011 05:40 AM

I only use it to keep up with DDIL and my grand kids. They just got accounts and are so fun to chat with. They live to far away for frequent visits so this is how we keep in touch. Other than that I do not post much on there.

Cyn 05-04-2011 05:43 AM

I love facebook. Our local quilt shop posts pics, classes, etc there. AND my kids are always on there so I feel connected to them and in their loop :) I skip any drama anywhere!

justwannaquilt 05-04-2011 05:43 AM

I am on facebook A LOT!!!! However I do not have people on my facebook that I do not KNOW and that are not an active part of my life! my brothers ex girlfriends little sister for instance is NOT on my facebook! lol

My thoughts on drama!
Isn't it funny how people say they're tired of the drama & stress from people, yet they are the ones who are creating it.
It seems that A LOT of people have A LOT to say reguarding other peoples lives; it's my opinion that people should just mind their business.
Maybe if everyone would mind their own dang business we wouldn't have the problem of drama!

Same here.

nativetexan 05-04-2011 06:14 AM

i got out not long after i got in. i prefer emails myself and quilt forums of course!!!

bluteddi 05-04-2011 08:11 AM

FB is what u make it. or what u allow it to become. It can be a time hog, or siimply a way of staying in touch. I played the games, but have long since burned out on them. I had friends that had multiply accts just so they could pkay more games!!I tend to visit once every few days. I rarely post. I have narrowed the fields to ppl , I am truely wanting to talk to and hear from. Offensivness, drama, crap, it's all a matter of adjusting ur settings. Poof they are gone. smile

grammiepamie 05-04-2011 08:14 AM

I deleted my FB months ago. I found that the people I knew weren't the people I really wanted to know. Such drama!!!!

SuziC 05-04-2011 08:40 AM

I don't so FB. I would rather be on this site and quilting! If i want to keep up with family members i do it the old fashioned way......I CALL THEM

LoriEl 05-04-2011 09:11 AM

I wanted to delete mine but didn't know you could. How do you do it?

I just love it when someone puts all there business all over FB and then YELLS at people for being nosy and getting into their business! They're the ones who made it everyone's business, aren't they?

auntmag 05-04-2011 09:27 AM

I deleted mine a few weeks ago. Found I was not into all the small talk and trivia.
