from fasting to feast
Greetings from WET Colorado! Amazing that only 2 days ago we were under the annual summer water restrictions because of drought and I was lamenting how dead my grass was looking. It seems like the whole eastern half of the state is under water today. Usually the flooding here is very localized along the creeks and rivers, but this is like EVERY river and stream in the state is 2' above the 100 yr flood level! They are now calling it the "500 yr" flood. The sky is blue this morning, but more rain is forecast for this weekend. I am SOOOOOOOO glad my house is at the top of a hill!!!!!

I'm so glad you are safe. Our area is so dry, ground is as hard as a rock. In the spring we were way ahead of on rainfall. Last three summers have been really dry, some large trees are not doing well. I hope you stay dry and safe.

We've been watching the news and praying for all of you. You are having the type of flooding we had in Rapid City in 1972. We lose over 230 people in that flood - hope your flooding stops soon and your lives get back to normal - after all the cleanup!!

My Mom is in a assisted care home in Evergreen, my niece and her husband live in Pine, and her daughter and grand kids live in Denver. So far they are all ok, at least as of yesterday.

Thankfully, there have been very few reported deaths so far. The cost in this is going to be the damage to the infrastructure. They are going to have to inspect and repair every inch of railroad track, road beds, bridges, etc. So much of the damage is from the water eroding away the ground underneath everything
