Favorite Easter plant

My vote is for a pot of red tulips! It was traditional for my Dad to bring home an Easter plant for my mother. Usually it was hyacinths. After I married and started cooking Easter dinner for my parents, my Dad would bring a plant to me. The last year of his life, he stopped by my office a few days before Easter. I can still picture him, walking in, all smiles with a pale blue golf jacket on, carrying the most gorgeous pot of red tulips for me. After the tulips died down, I planted them in my garden. Have never had any luck with bulbs flowering again, here in the northeast. That July he passed. The next spring, nothing. The second spring, lo and behold, what came up but the red tulips and have so every year since. When they blossom I look at them and say "Hi Dad".

How lucky you are to be able to cherish those moments and have the tulips to keep his memory alive.

I love tulips, also, and my favorite color is red! I don't, however, have any luck with growing them! LOL

Lilies shout Easter, but I love deep colored tulips. Tulips sing spring.

I love your story. Since my dad passed, it's been "Pennies from Heaven" always found on days when I'm sad. Dads have ways of still letting us know we're loved. Enjoy the tulips and the joy with memories that they bring.

I like tulips too, but am allergic to the lilies!! In church on Easter Sunday I was always miserable.

Roses were my grandmother's favorite flowers and she could grow them like weeds-Lillies were my mother's favorite especially the Calla Lilly. My Father always loved Carnations & we planted those every Easter along with the Calla and a rose bush. When they passed I hadn't thought about planting till we moved out here to retire in a few years. So this Easter I planted a white rose in honour of my Grandmother, I also purchased a Calla Lilly to plant along with some carnations to honour the memory of my Mother and Father. (now I am hoping we don't get any more snow or low temperatures !LOL Otherwise I will have to cover them !LOL).

I love the smell of hyacinths but love the look of all spring time flowers.

I always get an Easter Lily -- I guess because my dad always bought a Easter Lily for mom. I love you tulip story.

Mine are tulips of any color and lilles; also any color. My daughter loves the lillies too. I make sure that at Christmas she has her poinsetta and on Easter she has her lillies. I always get the plants so that when they start to die back they can go in the ground and come back next year with any luck.

I love tulips especially yellow ones. That one thing I splurge on is buying tulips for the house.
