Favorite Memories of My Cats

I thought since we have so many cat fanciers on here we could share our favorite memories.
I love to hear funny stories of things our cats do. So I hope you will share your memories.

Years ago we had a black momma cat and she would run across our piano in the middle of the night playing "music". As it was an old house in the country and we had our more than fair share of field mice I am sure she was probably chasing mice! LOL Very weird to wake up to a screeching piano in the middle of the night!!

she also had a litter of kittens in my kitchen in this deep drawer I kept rags in. When I found her I moved her and her kittens to a box behind the couch in the living room. but she moved them back to the deep bin. LOL I never did convince her to keep them in the living room. she won that round LOL

I have many more stories but will space them out!
Now anyone have a funny or cute or touching story to tell?? I'd love to hear them!
Post any pics if you like also! I may later on but I don't have any pictures of this cat.

My favorite memory of my cat was when I had my baby, we had just brought her home, maybe a week later we brought the cat home from boarding at the vets, and the first day she was all trying to figure out what the baby was. then after she was comfortable with the baby we were giving her a bath and my baby hated and I mean hated baths, she would scream her little butt off like we were murdering her. So she starts screaming, that cat comes charging in the bathroom like what are you doing to my baby ready to just protect this baby. It was the cutest thing, I don't know what that 10lb cat thought she was going to do to us since she thought we were hurting the baby. She hopped up on the edge of the tub to make sure the baby was okay and then walked out when she realized the baby was fine.

We had a big old yellow tom cat that ruled the neighborhood. His name was Fluffy but usually called Fluffcat. The typical cat would come when he wanted and when he wanted to come into the house, he would climb the screen door and ring the door bell. He loved when my father would go fishing, because my father would bury the fish heads and guts in the garden, then Fluffcat would dig them up. Each time my father would try to bury them deeper and it just didn't work. He lived to be 19 years of age.

Rhonda 04-13-2013 09:10 PM

cute! both of the stories above.

My MIL had a black cat named Midnight that used to open their bedroom door at night. He would jump up and wrap his paws around the doorknob and twist it. then he would wake mom up so she could let him outside. He never woke Dad up just Mom. He probably knew Dad would have kicked him through the door if he tried to wake him up! LOL

My Mil bought a siamese kitten for my son for Christmas. shortly after when Nicky (the cat) was a few months old my DH had a serious head injury and we werent' at home much for a few months. so MIL and FIL took the cat to the farm. He lived inside. but being a tomcat he was marking his territory and he had the audacity to mark it on Dad's boot with dad's foot inside and that cat went sailing through the screen door without opening the door! LOL He never did that again!! A few months later he decided he liked the neighbors house better and he never came home again. but my BILs would see him at the neighbors and knew he was alright.

Elisabrat 04-14-2013 02:10 AM

yikes on the booting the cat lucky it wasnt injured ...

I took in a semi feral catwho was pregnant two years ago. She was a super nice super eat you in a heart beat type of cat but I didnt want her babies born outside. She was tiny. She went into labor one evening and had, one, two three four I kept thinking ok she must be done.. she had 8 when we went to the market thinking she was done for sure.. came home to 10 kittens. she wasnt sharing them with us at all and chose a closet in the spare bedroom. fine. gave her a box and rag for them this was tough as she was meaner than a banshee if you got within four feet of them. I used a towl to throw her off dodge dart thing. At four weeks I knew it was time to seperate them as she was now imprinting hating people on them. That was a big challenge removing her bigtime. She went to live as a farm cat at another rescue. Her kittens these tiny four week old snipsels of kittys were hissing and spitting at us something fierce. within a week.. super sweet cuddle bugs. Here is a pic of one of them that had to stay forever with me. His name is King Henry. He is so loving when you talk to him and he is on his climber top.. he just rolls onto his back.. and rightoff the climber.. dorkville.

I bottle fed over 300 baby kittens from the shelters in the silicon valley that I took in. they put them down if they are too small to care for themselves not enough volunteers so they allow rescues to come pick them up and care for them and adopt them out. So often they come in, small as rats almost.. and so hungry. Its a labor of love, every 2 hours in the beginning but when they grow to adoptable age.. its so rewarding. I encourage anyone who has a bit of time to offer assistance at this time of year to rescues. Bottle feeders are always needed and from now til Oct there will be more than can be helped. there is nothing like saving a littleones life AND having the growing babies in your home.

Lost one one day couldnt find it scared me to death.checked every cupboard, shelf under the couch behind the shelves in the closet.. where the heck was Monco?? found him in the fridge he was 6 weeks old and apparently had snuck in the fridge. I felt like mud let me tell you. he was fine but thankfully I had seen he had gone missing. I had no less than 12 at a time and sometimes well tiny tabbies look pretty much the same. lots and lots of litter boxs (five) changed them every 2 hours..never had a stinky house. people would come in to adopt and comment how come your house doesnt smellwith so many kittens? uh cause that would gross me out too! lol. love those baby kittens.

We had a black and white tuxedo cat, the spot of white on the chest and then the tip of his tail was also white. One of his favorite things was to sit on the edge of the bathtub and watch with great interest while DD age two was getting nightly bath. DD (a most quick and active child!!) reached up and hauled him in and I swear that is the only time I have ever seen a cat go straight up!! He let out a howl, went straight up in the air, tore out of the bathroom and wasn't seen for a couple hours. This poor animal is also the one that I caught DD with a black magic marker coloring his tail "..because, Mommy, it's almost Halloween and I want Kitty to be an all black cat!" Fortunately, Kitty didn't get sick trying to lick the magic marker out of his fur but he sure didn't like it!

We moved to Puerto Rico for three years for my dad's job when I was a small child. We rented a house from a man that was coming to the US for a Master's program and the house rental included taking care of his Persian cat named Tobita.

Three things about this lovely cat: (1) she only spoke Spanish, (2) she loved my mother, and (3) my mother only spoke English [the rest of us spoke Spanish to her - maybe she thought my mother was exotic!]. She used to bring my mother tokens of her affection - dead iguanas (large lizards), that she left on the doorstep. She wouldn't let the rest of us take her "gifts" - she wanted my mother to have them! She was a very nice cat and we missed her when we left, but her owner was thrilled to be reunited with her.

Rhonda 04-14-2013 08:55 AM

LOL on the cat in the water

My dd got a kitten (the one we ended up with because of the allergies) and she was fascinated with water! she would climb up on the tub and walk the edge as teh tub was filling. well the inevitable happened and she fell in!
She was straight up and over the side and a streak went through the house to the closed in back porch where she slept at night. she hid for the rest of the day.

But she still never lost her fascination with water! when we had her we have a shower. and she would sit and wait for you to get out of the shower and then she had to go in the shower and lick at the water and inspect the shower. silly cat!

She also as a kitten at my dd's got into some hot barbeque sauce in the trash. she again did the streak and after that she wouldn't eat anything human food wise unless you gave it to her LOL I could put it on the floor and she would not touch it.

I love all these cat stories. I can't really think of any stories but my cats are sure loved and spoiled.

When I was about six months pregnant with my second son, we were at my Mom's for the weekend. She asked me to help her fold some clothes, standing at the kitchen table. Now, I was raised in that house, and I KNEW the upstairs staircase was behind my back as we stood....but I never suspected a thing. At least not until my Mom's Siamese cats came barreling down the stairs about 70 miles an hour, climbed up my back, and down my tummy and just about made me go into labor. I screamed, I cried, I cussed....and all my Mom, bless her heart, could do was stand there and laugh after she saw I was really okay! We laughed about it for years...but I still do NOT like Siamese cats and won't have one in my home!

nivosum 04-14-2013 03:17 PM

I always think about the movie with Doris Day titled Please Don't Eat the Daisies when I think about my son putting the cat into the bathtub with him. Of course, the cat shot out of the tub leaving a permanent scar on my son's stomach.
I laughed and don't him that I forgot to tell him that cats don't like water.

So many years, so many cats, so many wonderful memories. But I guess my favourite is of the one we have at the moment. His name is Shadow and he used to be the local school cat. He was a favourite with the kids, fondly handled, allowed to sleep on the classroom window sill in the sun and my DH and I would bring him home at weekends and school holidays when there was no one at school to feed him and keep him company. Our principal moved on, I retired from the school office and a new era began. First he was banned from the classroom, then his bed was moved down the corridor a room and finally to the very end of the corridor. This was the final insult and he objected very strongly, so revenge was on the agenda. First he would lie in wait for the offender and grab her ankles as she passed, then he thought it might be fun to sick up in the corridor and finally, HE PEE'd IN HER COFFEE CUP. End of story. He now lives with us permanently and enjoys just the kind of lifestyle any cat expects. Sleeps on the bed, helps with the patchwork and quilting (has even been known to create his own patterns?!!), has full time door service - in, out - in, out - in out, and of course, orders his menu according to his taste of the moment.

Rhonda 04-14-2013 04:37 PM

Oh my quite a cat wasn't he??? LOL glad he is comfortable with you now!

coopah 04-15-2013 04:04 AM

We have had such wonderful cats. Critter and Buttsky were with us before we had kids. Then came Dickens who lived to be 20+ and lived in 5 states with us. He was our indoor/outdoor guy and brought love presents of bunnies and snakes! He also put up with 2 young children. Then we had Twidgett and Herman who were siblings. Herman was so dumb (honest) that when he came home as a kitten, he had to watch Twidgett to know what to do!! But that Herman was a love. If anyone sat in the recliner for over an hour, he'd be there to check them out and make sure they were okay. After one surgery, he stayed on the arm of the recliner until I recovered! Twidgett was a clever girl and my sewing companion. Miss my cats, but life is in a different stage now.

My Lizzy is an indoor cat, but I have an enclosed courtyard where she can get some fresh air and watch the birds fly overhead and catch the occasional lizard. A sparrow has recently built her nest in a planter hanging on the courtyard wall way out of Lizzy's reach (thank goodness!). Lizzy sits for hours watching the nest and the other day I saw her jump up and charge in the house and run to her litterbox. She used her box, did a very quick cover-up, then charged back to her position in the courtyard. She was just like a little kid who runs to the restroom during a movie then runs back because he doesn't want to miss anything!

Rose Marie 04-15-2013 05:43 AM

My Max was watching Animal Planet on TV when a dog facing the camera came running down some stairs. Max ran behind the coffee table to excape. Then peeked over the top of the table to see if it was safe to come out.

One Christmas we had guests so I slept on the sofa. I had received a paint-by-number set as a gift and had started it. I left the picture on the dining room table to dry. Our cat, who also loved to play the piano, jumped up on the table, walked over my wet painting (lots of red paint), then jumped up on top of my chest. My mother came down the next morning, looked at me and started screaming. She thought someone had broken into the house and had cut my throat. That was the last time we ever left paint-by-number pictures on the table!

We have an 8 1/2 year old 18 pound neutered Black cat---[avatar]--named Toby---we take him with us in our motorhome---he is fine when we travel north and south but gets sick when we go east and west---vet just says "Oh well, it's Toby!!"---he also likes to chew stiff plastic bags ---doesn't eat them ---just perforates them--cats are the greatest!!!

We have a lge long haired Tabby who just wants to love all the time. But we also have a Persian/Siamese girl that we just adopted--had her 4 days in her own bdrm. She won't let us near her--growls and hisses & hides behind a trunk no matter how sweetly I talk to her. I've slept in her room and spent much much time in the room daily. Yesterday, we tho't to put her in my sewing room with all the windows and glass french doors seperating from our den---so she could look thru at our Tabby. She disappeared. After moving a tall chest and my 6' cutting table with cabinets...my husband was doing another search of the room when he discovered her lying between a machine and the wall. She had been so quiet all the time we rearranged the room, and kept her silence. Will we EVER get her friendly with us? I'm following all suggestions--never had a problem before.

Growing up we lived in the country for a few years. We had a big yellow tabby tom cat named Tomasina. He was the stud of the area and acted like it...one night he played and played like a little kitten for the longest time with me. Then all of a sudden he remembered who he was...got up shook himself off (and looked a little sheepish as if he just realized what he'd been doing) and walked off...me and my mom just laughed and laughed at him!

LenaBeena 04-15-2013 06:45 AM

My husbands favorite cat was named Pumpkin because of his color. He would wait at the end of the lane for my husbands car and climb in when my husband opened the gate. Then he would stand on his lap and put his paws on the wheel and help "drive" the rest of the way home.

sap 04-15-2013 07:27 AM

My father had a black long haired cat called Sam. They had regular conversations regarding food, the weather and various topics. When Dad passed he came to live with me, although we didn't have conversations he insisted on a taste of what ever I was going to eat, before I ate it. Think he was the Queen's taster?

There are many different stories, but it would take 999 pages to tell them all. What a character.

luvstoquilt 04-15-2013 07:31 AM

My avatar is the famous, Mr. Peach. Peach was alone in the park when I rescued him. He was chasing a little girl on a bicycle. I stopped my car and asked her if the cat was hers...she said, "No! and it is going to get killed." I asked her why she didn't take it home and she said she had a cat already. I took the kitten (It was exhausted by that time) and the vet told me it was about 5 weeks old. I thought it was a girl but Miss Peach turned out to be Mr. Peach. He was mothered by my two old Silkie Terriers so he thinks he is a dog. He answers the door when the bell rings and he can't climb a tree! He will be 6 years old this summer and he is so much loved!

JLe 04-15-2013 07:42 AM

Dudley came to stay for a few weeks while my DD found and settled into new digs. (He ended up staying for ten years) The former owners had him declawed, but those little front paws worked pretty well. After lunch he would curl up on my DH's lap to watch the news, When he got too warm he would curl his paw around my Hubby's hip to move him off the .chair. DH would move to another chair, and two minutes later Dudley would be over on his lap again. Typical cat, but we loved him

donna13350 04-15-2013 11:52 AM

My favorite memory was of the old Tomcat we had when I was a kid. Every year the female from the farm next door would bring her kittens over to our garage, and one by one, leave them. She never returned! Our Tomcat would bring them half dead critters to practice hunting on, and he would sleep and play with them and take care of them. We supplemented with food, but he did the rest. I remember at least 4 years she did that! My Dad called her "strumpet"...I never knew what that word meant until I was much, much older! (loose woman, or whore) LOL

cr12cats 04-15-2013 08:28 PM

the one that comes to mind is what my cat is doing right now. She likes to open cabinets and after she gets done each night opeing the same 3 she settles down and watches Ventavision Tv. that is what we call her doing she has 2 vents low on the wall she just sits and watches like the most interesting thing on it. She may be getting a little senile , last week she turned 18. the last cat we had lived till she was 20 and she watch Wall-a-vision each night. The house is 99 years old so we tease that maybe they see things we don't. But they sure do get glued to it and don't notice anything else when they watch.

nancia 04-15-2013 09:41 PM

we have a 20 yr old and a 4 yr old. my 1st cat lived to 22 so i'm not worried about this one going for awhile. but i want to tell you a story from my childhood. i was maybe 3 and mom was trying to get me to take a nap. she promised that when i woke up she would have a surprise for me. so, i napped. later when i had woken up from my nap, mom took me to my sisters' closet and there was our mother cat and brand new kittens. we had 52 kittens the year before, our 2 boy cats were really girls. anyway, i was un-impressed. kitten litters were ordinary, every day, ho hum. i walked through the den on my way to the kitchen, when...what? there was daddy sound asleep on the couch. and , o my gosh! surprise! there on his lap was a just born kitten. DADDY HAD A KITTEN! now that was a good surprise!!!! hotrod, a longhaired tuxedo cat lived to 22. i remember how it shook me when he died. he was the last vestige of my childhood. he had been my most loyal friend, my source of comfort and warmth, my heart and soul. there have been many cats and dogs and just about every other animal, too. and they were all loved and enjoyed, but there is something so special about the one that brought you up. the one who taught you all of the important facts of cat life and in doing so, taught you about life with people, too.

BarbaraSue 04-16-2013 09:45 AM

My DH and I moved to a small farm with about 3 outbuildings. We were looking into one of them to help DD decorate for the Fall at her job when kittens were found. There were 4 that were found immediately. only 2 survived the next night. They were less than 10 days old-- eyes were not open yet. One was a tuxedo male with four white feet and 3 white hairs on the tip of his tail. The other was a blackish tuourtoise shell female. Boots and Mokey (short for Monkey as she looked like a spider monkey to look at her face). Boots had no idea he was a cat. He answered the door bell as visitors came. Sat next to the arm of the couch, and would lay down with his front paws on the arm and his butt on the seat. He was very personable, very laid back. Played well with kids. His sister, Mokey was the opposite. Very hissy, grumbled under breathe as she darted out of rooms when the door bell rang. Cleaned the litter box after Boots everytime he went!! Ha! She ruled. She ruled even the dog! Later when she was the only cat and about 12, we got another rescue dog to fill the void of a lost one. He was a Red Bone Coon Hound, weighed about 100 lbs. "Red". Well Red would look out of the loft window and then turn to come down the stairs. Then he would freeze and there with her back to him was Mokey at the bottom of the stairs. Red would whine, cry; but he would not bark as Mokey would hiss-growl at him with her evil eye stare if he did. She had him treed on the stairs. We couldn't help but laugh. This happened about eveyday for 4 years. They both got cancer and died 4 months apart, first Red then Mokey. Pets add so much to our lives.

I have enjoyed reading everyone's cat stories. I have enough to fill a book but I will tell of my first cat love, the cat that brought me up. He was a member of the household before I came along. A big ginger tom named Tiger. Tiger was a love and a half and so indulgent of me. When I was old enough to attend school, back in those days it was safe for a 5 year old to walk to school by herself. I would walk home from school and as soon as I hit the neighbor's house I would yell "TIGER!" and immediately drop to my hands and knees. Tiger would come bounding out from wherever he was and run to me to bump heads and rub and love me all over. He did this every single day. I still remember an old photo of me with that cat at about 4 or 5 years of age. I was holding him, my arm wrapped around his midsection supporting him and his legs just dangling there. At that time the cat probably weighed close to 18 pounds and I was maybe 40 or 50. I loved that cat, and every cat I have had since then too.

I sure would like to know the secret of those who had 20 something cats. I've never had one live beyond 15 years.

nancia 04-17-2013 10:09 AM

the secret to a longlived cat, i think, is mostly in the cat. my parents' last cat died this winter. dad passed 7 yrs ago and mom, 2 yrs ago. dandy lived with my sister until the end. he was an indoor cat. toby was a stray who lived in and out. mel was a neighborhood "muttcat" lived in and out. hot rod was an indoor/outdoor. simon is indoor/outdoor. i really don't think there is a secret. all of our cats have been well-loved, well fed and vetted as needed. all but simon were ridiculously friendly and easy going. simon is more reserved and has really only one great love, me, but has in most recent years expanded his friendship base to include my husband and sister. the only traits they have in common are they are all male, well taken care of, but not extraordinarily so, and have been moved around, friendly (forget simon. he's the exception that proves the rule). 3 were all black, 1 tuxedo and 1 orange. as i think of it, i have not heard of any female cats that live as long, but there are more cats out there than i have heard of, so gender may mean nothing as far as longevity goes. and there are lots more factors that i haven't thought of, i'm sure. judging from the reactions of vets when we show up with our ancient cats, it is more the exception than the rule. they are surprised and also surprised to find them in such good health. mel had a large tumor in his head and was put down, otherwise, there is no telling how much further he may have gone. they have certainly beaten the odds for outdoor cats. no accidents or serious injuries that usually claim outdoor cats. i think for the most part we have just been very lucky to have lucky cats. i want to add that every single one was neutered, and all but hot rod , were rescues. i believe sooo strongly in spaying and neutering and supporting rescues! these are a handful of the cats we've been owned by in my 60 yrs. obviously most did not make this list. but we have had a very good run with cats!

Raine54RN 04-18-2013 05:52 PM

We have had catsvin the side I can remember, several Siamese, Burmese a long haied Tom named Midget who was huge, and now a gray tabby who is a small time thief and a Tonkinese that is my love. Dove the tabby has been caught stealing hard caries outnof my purse, LOVES shiny things and has hidden my tweezers, earrings sewing bobbins binding clips, and for her safety I do not leave out pins. She try's to separate them from the fabric. Everything goes in a drawer when in out of view. She has me trained! She ruined a lovely pair of gold earrings, gold hoops that went missing. Found them later that day under a throw rug with fang marks piercing the hoop! It was my fault though, i KNEW when I took them off the evening before, I had the thought not to leave them on the bath sink. The very next morning I noticed right away one was gone and I had messed up. She was a stray given to me to rescue after being flung in a car engine.bat that time the vet thought she was Bout 6 weeks. She is a year now and a talker. Hershey the boy is about 4 and his breed loves to snuggle. He kisses me, moves to my pillows when I get up to sleep in a bit more and follows me like he is a puppy.not a talker but has a deep rumbling purr. He crawls up to my shoulder to kiss my ear and nuzzle. He has been a real gentleman with the kitten. He had a litter mate, Godiva , that died young so he was used to another cat. I could go on and on but I'll stop now.I do still laugh about the earring, in fact I kept them. I eventually did find Doveys stash of candies, hair clips paper clips etc. The stash gets caught under the pantry door where she has batted thIngs while playing. I clean it weekly! Now the end!

We used to have a dog, two years after he died (he was 18) we were gearing up to get another. Instead we rescued a starving kitten, raised her on the bottle. Now we have 6 cats who live indoors - they haven't been out since they were rescued. The oldest is 7, then one is 5, two are 2 and two are almost 1. We certainly didn't intend to have so many cats but when a feral cat comes to you because they are hurt or starving you just have to take care of them. Right?

When I was about 15 or so I had a cat named Burt Reynolds. Named so because I had met the real Burt Reynolds while in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was there filming White Lightning. Burt the cat was the love of my life. He was always there when I needed a hug, a pat with a paw or just someone to hang out with in my room. A few years go by and I enlisted in the Air Force. I would call home weekly at the same time of day. Bert would jump on the counter, wait for the phone to ring and then pound on the phone with his paw until Momma answered. He would then start meowing until Momma put the phone down for him to listen to me talk to him. When I transfered closer to home he would wait in the drive way each week for me to come home. I loved him dearly and still do today although he has long gone to his happy hunting ground.

jrhboxers 04-20-2013 12:36 PM

My first true cat - not a family cat - was my Katie. I was there when she was born. Her mother was owned by a friend's family. The mother cat and 6 of the 7 babies all died within the first 16 hours. My friend was distraught over everyone dying, so I took Kate home at less than a day old. I was working as a legal secretary at the time, so she went to work with me, staying on a heating pad in my desk drawer and I fed her hourly. When she started to move around, I would drop her off with my grandmother every morning and pick her up on my way home. When I moved away for home for the first time, it was just Kate and me. She was very jealous of everything. My entire life was to revolve around her. She would even steal my glasses during the night because she thought that I would stay in bed with her all day if I didn't have my glasses.

I met my husband and she was kind of sketchy with him at first. But since he fed her every morning before he left for work - about 2 hours before I did - she decided that he was her daddy too.

When our son was born, I was afraid of how she would react. For the first two or three weeks she was a little stand offish. Then one day she showed me how much she actually loved the little one in our lives now. He started fussing in the cradle. She would find me and then run back to the cradle. When she went to check on him, that little touch was enough to rock the cradle and settle him down. And when anyone came to visit, when they held the baby, she was ALWAYS on the back of the couch, hanging over their shoulder. If he started to cry, she would smack them upside their heads and yell at them. She was so funny and always had a special relationship with our son.

I was blessed to have been there when she entered the world and when she left us - 22 years, 4 months and 16 days - a part of my heart went with her. But raising her taught me how to raise orphans and continue to do it to this day.

Love ya Katie girl and miss ya every day.

The cat was marking because he wasn't neutered. That's what intact male cats do. Kicking him through the door is not the answer. Neutering is. Please spay and neuter your pets, otherwise they will act naturally and either get pregnant and have a litter of kittens you have to find homes for or if male, mark around the house (not a pleasant smell). Too many cats are already in shelters needing homes. OK, off my soapbox. I'm glad the cat was not injured from the kick, but not surprised he went to live with the neighbors. I'm not trying to be mean, I don't like to see animals abused.

Elisabrat,

Thank you for taking in all those sweet baby kittens and raising them! We found a little kitten abandoned in our basement a few weeks ago. He was maybe a day old. We bottle fed him for a week but he didn't make it. We cried and cried over that tiny little ball of fur. Many years ago we bottle fed another kitty and he lived for many years.

We have two kitties, Cassy 7 years and Callie 7 months. We decided to give another little kitten a forever home in memory of the sweet baby kitten. We got a six week old black and white tuxedo kitten today and Callie is nuts over him already. One minute she is playing with him and then she is bathing him just like his momma did.

Callie is a sweet heart and loves to sleep on the top of the recliner. She will get comfy and fall into a deep sleep and sometimes fall down into the chair. I can't help but laugh when she does it. She will sit for just a second with the funniest look to her.

Just had to add that I am glad to know that other people's kitties hide things too!! My cheapy phone fell to the floor and the back came off. I was busy and didn't get to it right away. A little later, I went to put the back cover on my phone. I could not find it! I knew that Callie was batting it around after it fell but never dreamed she would hide it. We searched the bedroom and rest of the house and have never found the back to that phone. :D Good thing it was a cheap phone. Silly cat!!

I had a long-haired black cat I named Sasha Emma. Her mom was dumped in our neighborhood and my neighbors took the mom and litter of kittens into their house. When they were old enough, I took Sasha, the only black cat in the litter. She was very shy of new people, kind of a one "purson" cat all her life. But she was always near me and had to have one paw touching me. She was so sweet and funny. One night I was watching a program on lions. There was a part where the camera was focused on a male lion roaring and roaring. Sasha jumped off the couch ran up to the tv and stood on her hind legs and tried to put her front paw in the lions mouth! when that didn't work she jumped up on top of the tv (never saw her do that before or since) and hung over the edge of the tv and tried to put her front paw again in the lion's mouth. I have not idea what she was thinking or what she thought she could accomplish. I wish I had a video camera! My first cat was Mickey, a gray and white tabby who was 1.5 years old when I got Sasha. Mickey didn't like Sasha that much. Mickey was a real character. If I told him no! or not to do something, he would talk back at me saying nyat nyat. As he got older the sass became longer. Everyone used to laugh at the cat who talked back! And don't get started on the trying to swallow a cloth belt, the bag of cheetos, or the roll of paper towel incidents. To this day, and Mickey lived to to 16 years and passed about 2004, Mickey is still remembered at the vet for his very vocal personality. Fortunately he was all growl and screech and no bite. When I go in with my current cat, the vet or vet techs will tell me Mickey has bee reincarnated into one of their client's cats. Mickey is the still the standard other cats are measured by!!! Too funny!
