We are finally getting some rain in Indiana this morning

It has been very dry here (our yard is brown) and now our leaves are beginning to turn colors

Funny you should ask. We (So Cal.) decided we had the "summer that never was". It never really got hot here in No. County San Diego. And today I gave up and decided to move my summer clothes to the back of the closet. No rain yet, and we still get the morning overcast, AKA Coastal Eddy. Still, I'll probably have to pull out a summer "T" every now and then. I loved this time of year while living in Denver. But the ocean is really my home.

Western New York state still needs a good soaking rain. I'm afraid the leaves will just turn brown and fall of rather that go to bright colors. We do have a very few trees that are just starting to turn that are red and pretty. But we do need the rain.

we got rain last night. About 10pm the lights went out as we had quite a little storm move through. When I heard the rain start hitting I went right to sleep. I'm not sure what time they came back on but I think DH stayed up until they did. Here I had a big crock pot of fresh green beans, smoked sausage and new potatoes cooking only to have the power go off.

We seem to be having the summer that won't go away. The temps are 15 degrees higher then they should be. I'm ready for cooler weather. I don't think we are gonna have the beautiful fall foilage this year. Btw isn't this the first day of fall or am I early on this? Sure doesn't feel like it.

Your rain is on its way to NJ tonight! Thanks for sending it, we need it bad!

donnajean 09-22-2010 04:51 AM

We are still having the summer that won't go away. It will be in 90 today again. The rain is bypassing southeastern PA again. We broke an all time record for the no. of days in the 90's this year & almost no rain the entire summer.

The weirdest thing happened yesterday. Mom and I were talking (she's in NY) and both saying the day was beautiful but cool there, here it was just pleasantly warm. Well, last night it got so muggy!!!!!! I think the temp went up and yuck!!
I'm really ready for cool/cold weather! This summer was awful and like CJMomma said it doesn't seem to end :(
Oh and we are desperate for rain. Everything looks awful

Lexington has had very little rain since July. I think it is less than an inch. Yards are brown and have been for weeks, leaves are falling like it is mid-OCt. They arent turning pretty, just brown and dead. We did have a short cool spell, but this week in the 90's again. Should have kept the pool open, but had to close, too many leaves falling in .

Well, I am in South Texas and you can have my rain. We have had 10.50 inches since last friday. Lots and lots of standing water. We still have a 50% chance of rain today.....Yuck!

We have been getting rain about everyday with the storms in the gulf. Yesterday was the last day of summer.
And hopefully the hot 90s. I'm looking forward to the first blue norther.

Well, I heard somewhere that we have the same amount of water on earth now as when the world was created. Living here in So. Calif., we ask, so, where is it all? Now we know, it's all in So. Texas! LOL

tdgiffin 09-22-2010 03:25 PM

Yes we had a good dump of rain here in the Indianapolis area. i am so grateful for it. The air is so much more clean, and hopefully the lawn will spring back into shape. I am tired of brown grass! I hope we get some more this week.

BRenea 09-23-2010 08:47 AM

We have had some good rains within the last three weeks, but before that our last rain was two months ago...and those were two very hot and dry months! I'm grateful for the rain, we should have another hay crop and the cattle have plenty of green grass to eat.

Gramof6 09-23-2010 09:18 AM

We are in the 80's for temp. but have a good chance for rain tonight & tomorrow morning. A cold front is to be bringing the rain. WooHoo Come on Fall!!!! I cannot wait!!!

Rain, or lack of it, is my biggest irk about living where I am now.

Yesterday, the storm clouds were over Utah, and we did get rain. How much? 0.08 of an inch. That's all!!! That's what accounts for rain in these parts. Of course, there are always small pockets that just drown that local area in flash floods, but over all the numbers for a "good soaking rain" are far less than 1/4 of an inch. It's unnerving to see your small storm cloud and almost a full sky of blue next to it repeatedly touted as "today's stormy weather".

That's what I get from moving from an area along the Great Lakes that had weeks on end of rain and soggy damp weather to the desert. I miss it. I miss the all day rain and the damp, and also the greenery and beautiful colors that went with it. Seems like fall is becoming my least favorite season of the year.
