I am finally getting to see my newest Grandaughter next Thurs.
My oldest son lives down in Florida and they had a baby girl in March that we haven't seen yet. Lots of pics but no hugs.
So i am flying from NewYork to Tampa next thursday morning to hold her for the first time!!! I am so excited to see her up close. The only downside is hubby can't go. He was called back to work (YEAH) so this trip is just for me. I'm feeling a little guilty but happy at the same time. It has been a year since i have seen my son and as most Moms, i miss him very much. It will be hard to leave them and come home but i have quilting projects all set up ready to start when i get back. It's hard when your family is in differenet places especially at this time of year. But i will count my blessings that i can fly down to see them!

My heart feels you! My ex husband just recently came back from serving in Iraq, he is still active, but state side. Well my son, and I decided it would be a great opportunity for him to spend some time with his dad, so he is spending this school year, 10th grade, with him. I miss him so much. I have pretty much raised him for 15 years by myself, as I have no family close either. I don't have a mom, and my dad lives 2 hours away. Sometimes REAL hugs are better than smiles in pictures. Have a wonderful trip, and don't fell guilty at all! :)

Thanks Christina: I cannot imagine having my son that young and living apart . I give you a lot of credit for doing the right thing for him. If you ever need an ear or shoulder...PM me anytime!

I remember when my son went to live with his father.....I bawled for 2 days. Then I moped for another week. THEN I discovered I could do so much without worrying about him!!! Fortunately, he decided dad wasn't such a great person to live with and moved back home after 8 weeks! (YAY)

Don't feel guilty, Suzi!!!! How exciting to be able to hold and "meet" that little one! I'm surprised you held off this long!!! LOL ENJOY!

Christina.........best of luck and DO contact any of us when you're down (IF you're down). It's hard but your son will remember this the rest of his life and appreciate it. He'll respect you soooo much more.

SuziC, Your situation sounds almost exactly like mine. In two weeks, I will be heading south to Orlando to be my new grandson, due Sept. 27. It's so hard to see pictures, but not be able to hug them. I haven't seen my son in a couple years, and haven't met my DIL (long story) I am so excited!
