Ok ladies and gents, just got a call from my DS and my nephew who is a fireman and there is a brush fire only a couple miles from my house-everything is so dry here-also got a call from the Electric comany today updating all the contact info for fire emergencies-how's that for timing! DS just texted saying we should start preparing-I'm in a panic! We have had 2 devistating fires here in Ramona in the past 8 years-it is a mountainous area and very dry right now. We have talked about making a master list of items to get out of the house in case of fire-in order of priority-, but just haven't done it yet. Guess what-I just started it! Anyway, waiting now to hear from them-DH is trying to get back from town, DS also trying to get home from same area-and I just hope they haven't closed off the road where they have to drive because I don't have a car here!!!! Anyway, just needed to talk to someone in my state of panic-hope it doesn't pose a threat to us and we don't have to end up evacuating! Been thru PLEANTY of cyclones (hurricanes) in the Pacific during the last 20 years, but NEVER a fire!! What I started to get at, is if you are in an area that is at risk of fires, GET A PLAN TOGETHER before it is too late. Got to go-

Take a deep breath and start gathering what you must take.
Don't forget medications and the paper work for those babies in your avatar. Hugs and prayers!
Stay safe.

Hi everyone-thanks for your prayers and good wishes-DS and DH just got back home-they went to a friend of my son's house up on the hill and were watching the planes and helicopters dropping fire retardant on the fire-and got it under control! I am so glad our fire department is so on the ball and we have such good arial support here. I think the previous devistating fires really taught them a few lessons. We also have the benefit of Miramar Marine base and Camp Pendelton in San Diego and when they see any smoke they report it immediately. Our local airport here in Ramona also has a spotter plane that springs into action. Anyway, NOW I am going to make an emergency list in case it happens again! Thanks everyone!! (sorry I panicked!)

No apology necessary. I would have panicked myself. Glad it all turned out OK. Earthquakes, hurricanes, extreme heat, drought, floods, fires - what next?
