found info about making these and I varied it a tad but made 2 pair and love them
You remove the straps on flip flops and add fabrics straps comfy and easy

babyfireo4 05-28-2012 03:37 PM

How do you do it? Inquiring minds that dislike plastic on the top of flip flops would love to know!!

So cute! I paid $12 for a pair like this at Penneys. :( Here's a link I found with directions to making a pair.

I used this but sewed the fabric into tubes so no raw edges

Tweety2911 05-28-2012 04:55 PM

Very pretty, they look so comfy in fabric!

Great idea! Love it
Here in Australia we call them thongs. (imagine our horror when "thongs" became underwear!!)

Latrinka 05-28-2012 05:07 PM

Awe, too cute!

grandma7 05-28-2012 05:32 PM

Heather, I'm "old", so we called them thongs when I was growing up. They weren't nearly as much a part of our wardrobe as they are now. That's all anyone wears now, lol.

Thongs yes I remember when thongs were something you put on your foot not an undergarment. You must know what pedal pushers are too. Lol

debcavan 05-28-2012 05:53 PM

Comfy and easy and so pretty. You could have them match an outfit.

Lizzytish 05-28-2012 05:56 PM

Love them had to share on facebook. Thanks a bunch for sharing.

Thanks for the link!

I'd seen these awhile back, forgotten about them. I, too, remember them as thongs & yes, I do remember peddle pushers!

I do! And crop tops too! I used to call those flip flops 'thongs' when our kids were little. Even then they thought I was ridiculous.

Great idea.. I may have to try it. I really hate anything between my toes .. It hurts! .. This may work though.
And yes I remember , thongs , and pedal pushers.

I was raised in South MS....they are still called "thongs"!

mltquilt 05-29-2012 06:01 AM

Thanks for the link. All the GDs live in flip flops (called them thongs in my day too). May have to try this one or better yet since school is almost out may have them do their own. At least the younger ones. Three of them are all grown-up.

I still call them "thongs" the kids and grandkids just laugh at me. Didn't "pedal pushers" become capri's?

By the way the "flip flops" with the fabric look so much more comfortable....I can't wear the flip flops with the plastic it hurts the toes.

redkimba 05-29-2012 07:05 AM

Great idea! I'm going to make one since I can't wear the ones with the plastic thong part.

Dee 05-29-2012 08:01 PM

What a cute idea. Thanks for sharing.

kuntryquilter 05-30-2012 04:25 AM

I don't wear flip-flops, don't even own a pair. But, I call my daughter the 'Flip-flop Queen', she wears them all the time. The next time she comes to visit, I will make her a pair of these.

sniktasemaj 05-30-2012 07:13 AM

I wish I had saved mine when the dog chewed off the tops of a couple of pair.z

I still call them thongs. I guess I don't know any better. I think the younger crowd call some underwear, thongs.

These are really cute but won't the knots on the bottom pick up a lot of dirt.

lynnie 05-30-2012 10:06 AM

The knots sort of go up into the holes a bit

suzanprincess 06-01-2012 12:29 AM

You could coat the knots with fray-check or clear nail polish, or some such liquid, to make them resist dirt and moisture. I use clear nail polish on the soles of the moccasions I wear for sqaure dancing and they stay much cleaner and wear much longer.
