On the floor

I'm on the floor, groaning and hurting. No, I'm not sick. I'm trying to pin together my brother's quilt. haha This is what I've been dreading to do. This too shall pass as they say. haha I call it a "labor of love".

Did you know you can pin a quilt on a small table? You will need the clips from a quilt shop and a 2.5'x4'x5/8" table from
Staples. That's where I found mine. Find the center of the backing, center it on the table top, clip it down, Center the batting next on top, clip it down. Last center the quilt top on top of batting. Make sure everything is smooth before each layer.
Clip, Clip, Clip all around the table. Next start to pin the quilt. When area is pinned unclip everything and move to next section. Pin, pin and pin some more. This method saved my back. The table can be made taller w/bedrisers.

I actually pin my quilts on a wall. I don't have the floor room, plus I've got 5 cats and 2 dogs that would make that impossible. I have a wall where I've glued old corrigated plastic signs. I pin up the backing with push pins, then batting, and top. Everything is nice and taunt. It's easy to pin, use the basting gun, or even Elmers!

I avoid the floor whenever I can, but sometimes that is the only place big enough for this. Yes, it will pass, and probably food for you to have to get out of your comfort zone. hehe

Usually a church or library will let you use their tables to baste for pin the sandwich together.

No way could I get down on the floor or back up. I use my dining table that has a glass top. If I had to do it on the floor I would have to quite. I hope you can find an easier way.

I think I like this idea and could manage it. I could even sit on my couch with pillows if I was hurting with my Fibro and/or could be using the heating pad at the same time. Actually if I can find a shorter table that would be even better to do lap quilts. I'll go searching for one this weekend cause I have several doll quilts to do for Christmas gifts.

Know what you mean. Couldn't do that with my bad knees.
