OH, Kay, Promise is stunning, no wonder she is such a winner!
So, go bring home the Big Bucks!

k3n 06-19-2009 12:33 AM

I've always admired Promise in your avatar - I've got a 'thing' for greys and she's a beauty! No wonder she scoops the prizes!

K...that is Vic and Dale in her avatar. Don't mention that Vic got sold because that makes Courtney mad. She says....I can't believe Kay sold my horse! Vic was min! She sold him, how could she? lmao

Promise is beautiful! I sure hope she brings home the prize!!

k3n 06-19-2009 01:04 AM

Oh, is Vic related to Promise?

tlrnhi 06-19-2009 01:28 AM

Don't quote me, but I think Vic's mom is Bailey...not sure.
His mom is Wauk A Way Prairie Princess, but I'm thinking and pretty sure her barn name is Bailey.....heck I get confused! lol

And yes....Promise is related to Vic, who's mom is Wauk A Way Princess, aka Bailey Confused yet?

kaykay 06-19-2009 03:39 AM

Dang terri you are good!!! Yep Vick is half brother to Promise (they both have the same mom)

Heres some show pics from Ashland my friend just sent me

Ninnie 06-19-2009 03:55 AM

They are all so beautiful and I love seeing the set up like that!
Joanne is just stunning! What a beautiful stance!

kaykay 06-19-2009 03:59 AM

I am soooooo in love with Joanne. I took her off my sales list. Lots wanted to buy her at the show and I told them they were too late LOL. I probably should have sold her but I fell in love with her. Not my fault they couldnt see her potential before I showed her  I told people before the show what a beautiful mare she was so they shoulda listened right?

Ninnie 06-19-2009 04:03 AM

You are RIGHT! I'm so glad you are keeping her! Do you breed your show horses, later in life? We have room for a couple, but DH is afraid of horses! Can't talk him into one, but I will keep trying! After all our dog is half the size of a pony! LOL

Don't you just love it when you can smile to those same people and say , she's not for sale? I can see why you fell in love with her!

k3n 06-19-2009 04:05 AM

They're ALL beautiful Kay - but especially Joanne, like her namesake :D

kaykay 06-19-2009 05:03 AM

Ninnie you need to bring him here so he can see how personable and friendly they are

We show them generally the first 2 - 3 years before breeding them. I try really hard to put show records on all of our breeding animals as I like them to be proven before they are bred. But it gets very expensive! But I think in the long run it pays off.

Hey, my brain isn't all mush all the time! lol

I think Bailey was the first mare you asked for help with for Mare Stare. :)
And Courtney says......give me back my horse! lol

tlrnhi 06-19-2009 05:28 AM

Hey Kay!!!
How do you expect us to get a "foal fix" when the cam is down? :(

Ninnie 06-19-2009 05:51 AM

i know it's hard when you are running a business, and can't help but fall in love with your new babies, and yet you have to sell them to survive! I thought about raising Great Danes, just one pair , but know I would bawl my eyes out everytime I had to sell one of the puppies, beside there are enough unwanted dogs in this ole world. Still it sure would be fun!

I'll try and trick Dh into going to see the horses! LOL

We have 200 acres that would be perfect! Do you cry when you have to tell one of them goodbye?

tlrnhi 06-19-2009 05:55 AM

I couldn't bear to give up any of my babies!
Maybe that's one of the reasons hubby is still in the Navy. He knows if he wasn't, I'd have a house load of animals. lol
Just breaks my heart to leave the Humane Society when I go and play with the animals there. I just want to take them all home, then I start realizing how much it would cost me to fly them all back to the states with me.

Terri, I'm the same way and then I start thinking about the cost of feeding them and the vet bills and I have to come back down to reality! Also the bigger the pet, the bigger the bill, so I'm sure Kay's vet bill is enormous! Everytime we take Mortimer it is a couple of hundred and when Our first was ill, we spent thousands on him. He had Pancreatic problems and when he was too sick to make it upstairs to bed, he slept on the couch andI slept in the floor beside him. anyway I try to be practical, but it's hard!

kaykay 06-19-2009 06:09 AM

Sorry ladies!! We are having a horrible storm so I unplugged the cam just in case. I was worried it might get hit by lightening. After it passes Ill turn it back on.

I have to say I am not at all happy with where Vick is. I actually tried to get him back at the show :( I wont post this on any horse forum but when I saw him my heart broke. He is about 50 lbs underweight and not trained at all. The owner has promised me to feed him more and get him under control. I tried so hard to get her to let me at least have him a couple months to get his weight up and train him but she declined. This is the worst part of selling them. Im praying she does what she said and gets him fed up! I dont think she did it on purpose but she is not nearly as knowledgeable as she led me to believe when I sold him.

Only someone who has had an animal can understand the unconditional love they give. I wouldn't trade my babies for anything. I would seriously love to move to France and live, but it with as many furbabies as I have it just isn't possible, and I couldn't leave them! (K3n just breathed a BIG sigh of relief, LOL)

And Celeste, I know how you feel. I've fallen in love with Rumor, and would LOVE to have him. But I need a horse like I need another 20 pounds on my..er..HIPS! Yeah, hips! ROFL. Kay, I swear if he isn't gone by the time we are in Ohio this fall, I'll be in BIIIIIIIIIIGGGGGG trouble!

tlrnhi 06-19-2009 06:11 AM

Oh no, Kay. That is horrible!
I can jump on my broom, I mean jet and go and get him....well, I would if I could!
It's hard when we see our babies like that.

Ninnie 06-19-2009 06:13 AM

Oh Kay, that is so sad! I don't know how you stood to leave with out him. You must be in the same path or close as we are , I'm sick of the storms and rain!

Maybe you could get someone else to offer to buy him, maybe she just didn't want to sell to you, some people are like that and you have to trick them! I know he'll be on your mind now.

gaigai 06-19-2009 06:43 AM

Kay, I know that Vick is just breaking your heart. Maybe Ninnie is right and she would sell to someone else.

If that doesn't work, well.....I'm assuming that 50 lbs on a mini or shetland is more like 200 on a full sized horse. If all else fails, you might try contacting the local SPCA or Humane Society and making a report of an underweight horse. They will do an investigation and speak with and work with the owner to educate them and remedy the problem. If they don't comply, then the agency will seize the horse and you can get him back from them.

Can you tell I watch WAY too much Animal Cops and Animal Precinct? It drives Mom nuts, 'cause I'll call her boo-hooing about some really pitiful animal.

k3n 06-19-2009 07:05 AM

Kay, I was just about to suggest the same as Gai.

Gai - France is a pretty big country, I'm sure there's room for both of us - just! LOL Actually, my heart leapt when I read the first half of that sentence! Aw, go on! I knew some people who shipped horses with them here from the States. A French friend said to me 'they're crazy, it cost a fortune, why didn't they sell them and buy more here? Would be cheaper - its not like they were PEDIGREEs'!!! They just didn't understand that those horses were beloved pets and the people who brought them would just have soon have left their KIDS behind! Duh!!!

tlrnhi 06-19-2009 07:16 AM

Hey Kay!! No more earthquake! Wanna come visit? lol

It was only a little one.... 5.7
Sure felt bigger as my chair was shaking!! lol

kaykay 06-19-2009 07:53 AM

I cannot believe you so calmly keep chatting while your having an EARTHQUAKE. OMG I was scared and Im not there!!!!

okay ladies we have to teach Terri to RUN FOR COVER lmao

tlrnhi 06-19-2009 08:01 AM

Kay, I was on the 2d floor balcony...where was I supposed to go? Well, I did come inside. lol

It's not all that bad. I remember the first one I encountered when we got here. I was in the kitchen making Courtney's lunch. As I'm standing there, I could feel the floor ripple under my feet. Was pretty cool! lol
Earthquakes happen here all the time. Sometimes we feel them, sometimes we don't.

I can't believe how calm you stay! How often do you have them? I'd be so scared. And yes, Kay, she does need to RUN!!

k3n 06-19-2009 08:07 AM

Terri, I'd have hid in a cupboard! Or stood in a doorframe - aren't they supposed to stay standing if the building falls down? LOL I've been in an earthquake simulator in the Science Museum in London but I'm sure it's not the saame as the real thing! I even found that scary! LOL

tlrnhi 06-19-2009 08:13 AM

My house is built out of cinderblocks. Total "brick and morter" so to speak. This house is a tank...it's not going anywhere.

zyxquilts 06-19-2009 09:45 AM

Yup, I know just what Terri means! I was in the chat one night when we had a 5.0 quake, just a nice roller. My dining room light was swinging in a 2" arc, but nothing fell off the shelves so no worries! lol

Gosh Kay, how awful about Vic! I'll bet it was hard to leave without him. :(

And you're right - they should've taken one look at Joanne before the show & snatched her up! lol She's a beauty for sure. Their loss!

amma 06-19-2009 10:15 AM

Kay, when I hear stories like this, I want to lock up the owner's of these animals and starve about 100 pounds off of them!!!!   If you can't take care of an animal properly, let them go to someone who can!!!!!
Joanne looks like she is loving showing off...standing there so pretty and perfect, saying "LOOK AT ME!!!! I am a Princess....where's my crown???" (or trophy, ribbons and CASH) :D :D 8) 8) :D :D
Harley is going to be your problem child??? Nawwww, he is just revving along, living up to his name 8) 8) 8) *Tell him that Harley's don't jump...they just cruise along and go really fast*
Promise's coloring is so soft and silky looking...no wonder she is a trophy magnent :D :D :D
Tiny Dancer is so pretty and petite looking...
No doubt that you have a beautiful herd of horses!!!!!!! :D :D 8) 8) :D :D

amma 06-19-2009 10:17 AM

Terri, just make sure you are not too close to the balcony railings during these earthquakes...don't want to be hearing....TERRI OVERBOARD

tlrnhi 06-19-2009 08:23 PM

Kay, I predict that you will get at least ONE of those money prizes! Sure hope you walk away with all of it tho.

Ya'll should have heard Kay about the earthquake, was quite comical. Sorry, Kay, don't mean to laugh at you, I'm laughing with you.
At least there weren't any chickens running up trees. lol (that's for those of you who remember the big one that hit here last year)

Here's a couple pics....don't have to worry about the balcony...it's cement.

That's the crack from the BIG one from last year. Yes, I have to sweep out there again...ugh!

That's what the balcony rail looks like. UGH! I just noticed, I have to clean hubbys table....yuck!

gaigai 06-19-2009 08:56 PM

Terri, I'm with you! I'm sure Kay is gonna bring home ALL the prize money!

BTW, what is that stuff on the table? Or do I really want to know? LOL

tlrnhi 06-19-2009 09:07 PM

Ya'll know that if Kay brings home all the money...ok, ANY of the money from the show, we will all hear her hooting and hollaring about her winnings, right? lol
Kay, just get them babies to do what you need them to do and take ALL the prizes!

Actually, the table is really dirty! It's a resin sort of material that makes the table top and it "collects" dirt really fast. It's really hard to keep clean here.
That thing on the right side of it is hubs dirty, yucky ashtray. EWW!!!Hmmm....I'm thinking....he's gonna be gone for 3 weeks, I can toss it out, right?
He usually cleans it and puts it away while he is gone, but he had been on board and wasn't able to get home before they left. Guess I'll clean it like a good wife. lol

kaykay 06-20-2009 02:40 AM

Hubby laughed so hard when I told him you were having a quake while we were on the phone. At first he thought I was joking!

Sorry about the cam we have had storm after storm roll through. Its on right now but if more roll through I will have to turn it off. It will be off this weekend while my daughters boyfriend does some fine tuning on my computer. Its making odd noises ughhhh

barnbum 06-20-2009 03:35 AM

Oh my gosh, Kay--I can't believe what you wrote about Vick. :( :( :( :( Hopefully she'll change her mind and give him back....

I'm glad you're keeping Joanne though.

Ninnie 06-20-2009 03:45 AM

  What's that, no Patches and Harley over the weekend?

Guess I'd better go and have my fix!

Ninnie 06-20-2009 03:47 AM

Awe, he's sleeping ! Isn't it amazing how innocent he looks laying there. Patches is standing over him , watching over her baby!

tlrnhi 06-20-2009 04:13 AM

Oh yes, he's so innocent when he's sleeping, but what about when Patches wants to lay down and sleep? lol

barnbum 06-20-2009 04:15 AM

Harley? As in the cycle? Where did that come from?
